"All net proceeds raised through this auction will go to the Hockey Canada Foundation"

People that buy that stuff can use it as a tax right off. Its the same as donating to a charity.

How would one go about this, Hockey Canada doesn't issue a receipt. They only give you a letter of authenticity.

EDIT: And Malhotra's SE16 is orange on the shaft, the Canada players' was white or silver, with red heel. Wish I could find a picture but I'm not sure what number it was.

Actually that isn't entirely correct as it has been explained to me. If you get something of value in exchange for the donation, you are not allowed to deduct the full amount. You can only deduct the amount above the value of whatever your get from them. That's only going to be a problem if you get audited, but it will become a problem at that point.

Its the same with jersey auctions if they go to charity. Like my mom would buy jerseys for 400-500 bucks, and write off the cost minus the cost they told us, which was 90. So she'd write off 310 if she bought it for 400.

For these you could write off most of it though with some of the prices those are getting to. wow. everyone in canada is bidding on them lol.
