Advice needed on hockey pants

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am shopping for my first pair of pants. A couple of pants I tried so far fit fine in the waist but way too wide and bulky around the legs. It looks like at this point my only option is to buy online. Could someone recommend a brand/model that would have a more narrow fit around the legs? I don't need lots of protection so something light and less bulky with tighter fit would be perfect. I am 5'10 170lb. I am thinking maybe something like Graf G500 would work better for me?

Thanks.

I'm your same specs. Right now, I use a two-piece Mission (NME-Nine; I like them), but if I go back to one-piece, I'll be buying Sande "The Show" in Medium They are only available through their site - http://sandehockey.com/

If you have questions, Gary Sande, the founder, is great about answering questions.

The Graf and Tackla pants might be more suitable to your fitting tastes

I should say that I think that the pants are only available through their site. I have seen a couple of their products in LHS, but not many, and their web site doesn't show anything under "Where To Buy." I think, like so many others before them, they're having a hard time getting distribution.

The Graf 500 or Tackla 951's are two pretty decent pants to look at. Both aren't overly bulky and offer pretty decent protection. They run a little more expensive than mid line North American pants but have a slim fit around the waist. I much prefer the European fit over the North American fit and in most cases you don't need to wear suspenders.

Amen. Tackla for the win, I love my 5000s.

Owned by Eagle now, for those unaware.

whatever you do don't get the nike bauer or bauer supreme 10 pant. They are the super cheap entry level pant and offer no protection whatsoever. I was using a pair at shinny today and fell on my ass... dang it hurt! they are just a nylon shell masquerading as a full pant. no supreme 10!!!

Eagle does not own Tackla. Vaughn, who owns Eagle, had the distribution rights to Tackla in Canada. Now that Vaughn owns Eagle, they will produce similar products with the Eagle name instead of the Tackla name. Tackla is still distributed in the US with Tackla name, but the product is produced in asia.
