Custom Gloves

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I know you probably have to be a pro to have a company make you gloves with your name on them. I was wondering if any of you guys know how I can do it or get it done myself. I just got some synergy gloves and I thought having my name on them would be cool.

My wife runs an embroidery shop, and, yes, the cuff is way too thick to embroider on. The name has to be embroidered before the glove is assembled. We do a lot of business with the local hockey youth leagues (patches, hats, shirts, etc.), and inevitably this question comes up at least once a season. Sorry. You might be able to find a heat transfer shop that can essentially iron on your name. It would look just as good, IMO.

Chadd,

That's interesting, because there is no embroidery machine in the world that can embroider on a hockey glove cuff once the glove is sewn together. Embroidering on nylon and leather is hard enough as it is since it requires such a heavy needle. The cuffs won't even fit in the hoop needed to load them into the machine. When you have taken them in to having sewing put on, they must either diassemble the glove (e.g., take the padding out) or sew it by hand. Either way it would cost a fortune. The aftermarket sewing you've had done, can you see the stitching on the inside of the cuff, too? That would tell you how it was done. Look at the other side of any embroidery and you'll see the backing and stitching. If you don't see what looks like a mess of thread, then the glove was disassembled prior to sewing. I don't know any company that would do this, but I suppose it's possible.

here is what you do and i do this all the time for people. you can do it easily with a shoe repai shop in your area. Find a plce on the EXISTING glove, that can be easily removed and pulled apart, with out experiece i recommend taking notes as you go and labeling the parts. Take it apart take the part you want to an embroidery shop, get your name done and have the cobbbler put it back together. what gloves do you have??? i may have some ideas for you. now keep in mind we manufacture and i know how, and i have experience and all the right machines so check with the cobbler first before you take anything apart.

Hey, this is a pretty old topic, but I didn't want to start a new one and I have the same question.

I have a pair of Eagle PPF's that I've had for a year. I want to get my name on the cuff. What is the best way of doing that. Would a regular embroidery shop be able to do that. Chadd, you have any insights? Is there any new info on this in the last 6 years.

How bout a Sharpie?

In all seriousness, call some local luggage repair or embroidery shops. I have a shop in town that has the heavier duty machines to sew into tougher stuff like luggage (and hockey gear). Depending in the piece and location, they might want to disassemble it partly (or fully) to do it right.
