Easton S19 Pro Stock

I was examing a pro stock S19 today at a LHS. It was for Lee Stempniak. I'm not 100% convinced it's a true S19. The elliptical taper shaft wasn't as long as the S17 from what I can remember, and the stickers on the stick were painted over rather than being on top of the paint job. Is there any easy way to tell if the stick is a true S19? I do recall seeing "Y 19" somewhere on the shaft.

When I tried to flex the blade, it gave a tiny little bit and I can hear a very faint cracking sound. Is that a sign the blade is on it's last leg? The blade on the S19 was definately not as stiff as the Bauer One95 or X:60 blades I tried to flex...they were solid as rock.

Also, there was an "X" marked on the handle taped job. Does that mean anything? I see some sticks were marked and some weren't. Does the "X" mean the stick is damaged good?

an X might be an easy way to mark sticks as NO GOOD.

or NFG works to.

I don't know if Toronto does this but at the habs team store they sell used sticks. So perhaps Lee had the X on his stick to be sold at the ACC store....There is a good chance if you hear a crack in a blade it is on it's ;ast leg.

I was at the Leafs store checking out the game/practice used sticks.

I was very suspicious of the "X" marked on the handle as only some of the sticks had it. I was at the cash registered about to pay for it, and my instance told me to put it on hold and reconsider it. I guess I won't be going back to get that stick.

Not sure if this true or not. I have seen the sticks and thought they were SE16's with the S19 graphics, but he assured me that was not the case. Just my two cents.

Most of the s19 pro stocks I've come across are SE 16 repaints, but some are custom stealths that are going to always be a mystery...

Rep definitely wasn't informed or intentionally deceived your friend. Roy uses the SE16 painted as an S19. He was a stealth user and used those until they stopped producing those. His S17's from last season were repaints as well (no eliptical taper).

Apparently Derek deceived this guy as well as. He said that he and Derek were good friends. Doesn't really matter to me, as I don't beleive half of the stuff I here. He'll I just saw Iginla using an old original Easton Synergy to try and get himself out of a scoring slump. Does that mean it was a stealth painted to look like an old Synergy?
