Int sticks..

Recommended Posts

So i have a couple of questions... do any nhl'ers use int sticks?

Reason i ask is, i am 5' 10', i weigh 145 pounds and i use a Warrior Mac Daddy 75 flex cut down about 2 inches. I don't feel that i can load the stick properly on shots, i don't feel my arms are strong enough and im wondering if an int stick would maybe benefit me better?

What are the opinions on this?

I believe Phil Kessel does, I'm sure someone on here can confirm that.

You're in a similar dilema that I was in, but you're a bit taller. I had a One55 87 flex cut down to my height, which made it a mid 90's flex...couldnt shoot right with it at all. I have a regular Sr size X40 77 flex now and its a world's difference. Perhaps you should get a 75/77 lfex stick and NOT cut it and adjust to the length difference.

If the intermediate sticks are too short for you but you want to try that flex you could add an extension to it. I recently tried that (but with junior sticks) and it has worked great for me.

This is what i was considering. I'm going to try and order one but living in Scotland, the shipping costs are an absolute nightmare.

I actually had the same problem as you are experiencing. I too am 5'10" weighing 140lbs. I started off with a 85 senior flex cut down about 4 inches and found the flex to be too stiff. I moved down to a 75 flex also cut down about 4 inches and although I can load the shaft better, I still found it too stiff. my next move was down to a 67 flex in an int and found it to be perfect. I can really load up my shaft and my shots are much harder now.

In terms of height, the int is the exact same length I cut my senior sticks to so it wasn't an issue for me. I like my sticks to be about chin level when I'm on skates and a standard uncut (Bauer x:40) int stick does just that.

The shaft does feel a bit thinner but it's something I've gotten used to. I say give it a try.

Hopefully this is not too off topic, but has anyone tried a RBK 7K SickKick ('08) intermediate model? The specs that the website gave stated that the flex is 65 and that the length is 60". Thanks in advance for any feedback!

i dont want to start a new thread...so i guess ill ask here.

my dilemma- i am best with a stick around 77 flex...but any senior length stick is going to have to be cut down quite a bit for me (im 5'6") so it would lose quite a bit of flex. an intermediate stick would be the right length...but would be too whippy...am i just out of luck? or is there an alternative here?

Chop down the intermediate stick ~2 inches or so, add a plug to regain the height and it should stiffen up some, at the price of weight and balance a bit but I cant think of something better so, yeah there you go.

I am at your exact height and weight (5'10", 145lbs)... I use an INT Bauer One95 w/a 1" jr endplug to bring the length right under my chin. I can load the stick nicely with the INT flex.

If it's a mid flex, it's 75 flex, and it feels a bit whippier than advertised. I have one cut down 4-5" and it feels great. I like sticks that feel like about 70-75 before being cut down.

Great stick, BTW, durable and great puck feel IMO.
