Second the notion on Beamish - I prefer it over Guinness as well.

On a cold winter's day? Harpoon Winter Warmer or Arrogant Bastard (something stronger).

Hot summer afternoon? Hard to beet an ICE COLD Rolling Rock (or 10!).

For an anytime beer? Hard to go wrong with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale...
