littlehockeymatt 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 OKay so its time for new wheels. Im skating in rink rat hornets on my boss black, for some reason they were half the wheel of the hornets i had before on my old skates. I was looking at some web sites, and i want a wheel that has grip and that wont be dead in a month or two. im only 130lbs..and i need help.
the_game 452 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 They're pricey but, the Labeda Addiction are an amazing wheel. I've had mine since November, skating 3 or 4 times a week and they are still going strong. If you can afford to shell out for the Addiction, I would highly recommend them. Theedanimal 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 Revision Variants. For your weight, platinum, maybe gold if you really want them to last a long time... you wont be disappointed.
dreww 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2010 Revision Variants. For your weight, platinum, maybe gold if you really want them to last a long time... you wont be disappointed.+1 for Variants. Hear lots of good things about them. If your looking for grip I'd go 72a only being 130lbs.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted February 27, 2010 Variants... nothing better... pm-ed
shute 4 Report post Posted February 27, 2010 if the size is right as they have limited qty i would go to hockeymonkey and get those white rink rat wheels.... you can't go wrong with rink rats and i've tried them all. variants i found to have very good grip, even more then rink rats but mine are gone after just one season. it can't be that hard to make a wheel with all grip but to make one with grip and durability rink rats got that down pat in my opinion
BecauseItsYourWallet 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 i originally used the rink rats that came with my mission skates but they wore out pretty quick. i switched to the RV variants and havent looked back. The control is outstanding.
MIAPlayer 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 i like my labedas. currently on dynasty II's which i find are great. also i liked the milleniums when ive skates on them
missionrh11 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 + 1 for revisions. i use the platinums on the outside and golds on the inside. i weigh 165lbs and these are the best wheels i have ever used. if you are playing on sport court or ice court i would highly recommend these. i used hornets for a while and then a buddy recommended i try these. been using revisions for almost 2 yrs and would never go back to hornets. of course this is my opinion. i know many people that love hornets
ncbrock 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 ill be going to revision also, im tired of my rink rats splitting with only a month or two of time on them, once they start cracking they go fast.
freestyla 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2010 New to inline hockey here, play ice normally. My Rink Rat Hot Shot's (76A) broke after only five games so I'm looking for new wheels. I weigh 230 lbs so I just want to make sure the Bronze wheels will be okay (since they're also classified as 76A just like the Rink Rat's).
mr13lcky 4 Report post Posted April 8, 2010 I am a wheel junkie. I rotate them every game and usually replace them after no more than 30 games. I have skated on Hyper, Revision, Rink Rat, and Labeda (have not tried the Addiction yet, but plan to soon). Dollar for Dollar, based on performace and durability, here is my list, in order of favorite to least favorite:1. Labeda Fuzion2. Revision3. Rink Rat Hot Shot4. Rink Rat Hornet5. Labeda Dyansty II6. Hyper Razor Edge7. Labeda Millenium (of all the wheels, this is the only one I chunked, and I got 3 in the course of 2 games. See above to verify that they wer not old or misused.)Those are based on standard 608 bearing. Some of those are not available in a 688 micro-bearing, but other choices will be. I am about 170lbs, and my skates are Mission Helium 10k's with an 80/72 Hi-lo chassis. (Until recently. Just got myself some Sprungs, so my wheel choices may change.) Rogueldr 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2010 I have to say Labeda Addictions are my wheels of choice. I was skeptical at first being that they are 82a's but man do they grip on an indoor surface. I don't know how they work but they do. If you can get past the price my vote is for Addictions.Just got myself some Sprungs, so my wheel choices may change.)If you just got sprungs do yourself a favor and try them with Addictions. Believe me you will not be disappointed.
mr13lcky 4 Report post Posted April 8, 2010 If you just got sprungs do yourself a favor and try them with Addictions. Believe me you will not be disappointed. That's what I hear. The problem is talking my wife into letting me spend $14 per wheel. I should start a new thread where we could all post tips on how to get wives/gf's to shell out for gear. :D
Rogueldr 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2010 That's what I hear. The problem is talking my wife into letting me spend $14 per wheel. I should start a new thread where we could all post tips on how to get wives/gf's to shell out for gear. :DLOL I know exactly what you mean. If my wife knew how much those wheels cost she would flip. Luckily I was able to offset the cost by trading in a pair of skates and using my store credit towards them otherwise I could never justify 14 bucks a wheel. Honestly if my wife knew how much half the stuff I've bought recently cost I'd be living in the garage.
anko 3 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 I weigh 205, +/- 5 lbs.Always skated the harder durometer Hornets. Finally tried a set of the hardest durometer Variants. My first time out on them was awful. They gripped fine through turns and speed was good, but I could not stop without my feet sliding out from under me. By my third time on them, I'm stopping cleaner with them than with Hornets, and I think my speed is marginally better. I'll likely replace this set of Variants with another set, but the first skate on them will need to be pickup, not a league game.
fleadeluxe 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 Another +1 for the variants here. Play on sports court, used to use rink rats but changed a few months ago and never looked back.
hollowicked 39 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 addictions are amazing, was very very impressed with them on sportcourt.
pody37 3 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 Don't mean to hijack the thread, but thought someone might be able to help me out.I've decided to switch up from RR Hornets to Revisions, but i'm having a hard time tracking them down within Canada. Does anyone know if they are carried by any stores in Canada, or will i just need to pay out for extra shipping from inlinewarehouse? Thanks in advance,
vnderachiever 3 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 +1 on the addictions. only wheel i'll ever use from now til they stop making them
ncbrock 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 $14 for a wheel is pretty outrageous though. thats a lot of money for all 8. id rather pay $9 a wheel for revisions
vnderachiever 3 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 $14 for a wheel is pretty outrageous though. thats a lot of money for all 8. id rather pay $9 a wheel for revisionsYeah but my revisions lasted me half as long as my current addictions. Plus I get my Addictions for 12.50 a piece. So 100 a set for addictions that i *might have to replace after 6 months, or 72 a set for revisions that i'll burn through in 3 months. Not a math genius but i think the revisions would cost me more

anko 3 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 I'm back to Hornets after giving Variants a shot. I'm 205 and have started chunking out bronze Variants after 6 times out on Sportcourt.
