X60 vs one95 Fwd Lean

Recommended Posts

Is there a difference in the X60 and one95 boot cut in regards to fwd lean or should I say the position/angle of your ankle to the ice.. The catalog calls the X60 "The angle of the boot is cut aggressive to allow greater

forward flex." I skate on vapor 40's and trying on the one95 and X60 in the store was not able to tell a difference. Most likely would have to skate in each to tell, which is impossible, so am asking the question here.

Thanks

Moving forward though i believe all Bauer skates have a 9" radius.

Anyway the pitch on the vapor is more forward. You'll find yourself more on your toes during the game where the Supreme will have you back on your heels a bit (correct me if i'm wrong, this might just be PP).

One thing I do (and know JR does, probably common) is put a 3mm heel lift in the supreme's. Gets you back to that forward lean.

EDIT: changed last word from flex to lean

Forward lean and forward flex are completely different things. Forward lean is where the bottom of the foot is relative to the ice. Forward flex is the flex at your ankle.

LS2 steel is 9'

LS2.1/LS2P is 11'

Good point. Changing my wording around is everything else there correct?

Honestly, I'm not sure... I believe the Vapor is made to force a deeper knee position but I'm not positive how accurate it is. Although the tendon guards on the respective skates support that theory since the Vapor guard is longer and stiffer.

The Bauer site has this topic covered in the range of motion. While the Vapor boot is cut with a forward lean, the Supreme actually has more forward and backward range of motion for longer, more powerful strides.

I'm not sure I buy in to this whole 'boot lean being different' thing...

both X60 & One95 have the same thin composite outsole, and both have the same LS2 holder. So how can there be a difference in pitch if the angle is the same?!

Also re radius vs pitch - irrespective of whether it's a 9 or 11" the rocker doesn't affect the pitch - they're two completely different concepts ie you can have 11" forward pitch or 9" negative pitch etc

Noicing has a good write up on this: http://noicingsports.com/skate_radius_profiling.html

Look at the back spine of the boots... the Vapor is at an angle pitching forward, the Supreme is more perpendicular... hence the 'cut'

I agree with you brother!

I came from Graf G35's and went into Bauer one95's and heard about the different lean.

I did a whole bunch of measurements including measuring a fixed spot on my calf to the floor, the heights of the front of the boots, used a laser level on the bottoms of the boots and so on.

It is very, very minimal in my opinion.

I know that the guys using lifts are using 3mm lifts to that is minimal for sure, but I would be surprised if it is even that.

Yes, I know the one95's feel way different than the G35's, I was surprised at how different the skating stance feels, but I personally feel that the lean of the boot is an almost non existant part of this equation.

That is just my opinion and results will vary of course.

Maybe it's because the zero negative space fit of the supreme gets that perfect heel lock so maybe that's why supreme users feel like they're on their heels.

Thanks for all your input. I am definently talking about the cut of the boot and how it gives you a more foreward position leaving the blade and holder completely out of the picture for this analysis.

That could very well be it. Like SolarWind said with the same holder on the boots it'd be hard to see how the pitch/lean could be any different but i'm sure it has to do with how the boot forces you to stand: more aggressive in the Vapor, a little more stand up in the Supreme

My Supremes came at 11' out of the box while my Vapor XXXX's were 9' out of the box.

I do believe the E-Pros to be 11'
