Bauer P88 Rocker Problem

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Yesterday, I played a game where I had a couple of pretty darn good chances of scoring. I fanned on two shots for some reason and was pretty pissed off because that normally rarely happens to me. Later on, I discovered that since moving from an Iginla curve to a P88 curve, I felt that my shots suffered and a bit of my stickhandling. I also noticed that the rocker of the Iginla curve is not as dramatic as the P88 and believe that this is the problem why I am fanning on shots and fumbling the puck because the blade is never fully on the ice (it's either the toe or the heel). I do not believe the lies are affecting me because the wear is pretty even on the bottom of both blades. Are there any other options other than Pro-Stock curves because there are none in my LHS and I can't order online? I want to stick with OPS and Bauer as they are a (IMO) great company but if there are no other alternatives I guess I will have to switch brands. If there are any solutions, please help.

Thanks!

How long have you been using the new curve. You need to take a little time to get used to it.

it might also be caused by the difference in lie...

irrespective - sounds like you gave it ample time but still feel it doesn't work for you - well - why don't you simply go back to what worked in the past - iginla curve?

It isn't an uncommon problem, the big rocker throws off a lot of people. I would look into going back to Easton or another brand.

I had the same problem when i switched to a p88 nikebauer curve. I eventually switched brands to warrior and have been using warriors ever since. i agree with most of the suggestions. if you really don't like it, there are many great brands out there that you should give a try.

Some of the Warriors have a rocker that is every bit as big as the P88.

Yeah, I switched from a Heatley to a Warrior Jovanaski, and had the same problem with the rocker. After about two months I switched to a Fedorov curve and feel much better than with the Jovo.

Of the Easton Curves: Iginla, Heatley, or SAkic, which has the least dramatic rocker? I'm gonna pick up one of these curves tomorow.

Thanks for all your help!

I've found this tool to be pretty accurate in matters such as these:

That doesn't address the rocker at all.

I would go Iggy/Heatley, depending on the one that feels best to you.

Really? Even the side view? Am I severely mistaken about what a rocker is?

It's not part of the comparison chart and the side views are so varied they're as misleading as they are useful. Some blades are down flat, others are down at the heel and up at the toe... It's better than a lot of charts but still misleading in a number of ways.
