flyers10 57 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 Chadd - Don't recall reading how you got your concussion. Was it from a check or falling on ice and hitting your head? And did you get a different type/brand of helmet that offers better head protection?

And did you get a different type/brand of helmet that offers better head protection?I was flying in to NYC and hit my head on the cabin wall when we encountered some turbulence just before we landed. Completely unrelated to hockey.

tareatingrat 4 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 It took my insurance company a couple months to get me in with a neurologist, mostly because the one treatment center here lied to them. I was still somewhat symptomatic at the time I finally got in, so it was nice to hear that my case wasn't unusual for a moderate concussion.Eesh. That sucks it took that long. Also sucks the way that happened. The best sports clinic here in Winnipeg has maybe a three-week wait for an appointment. At least that's all it was back when I had an issue. If it's bad enough, you can just go and wait without an appointment and get in within the day, but you may be there 12 hours or so. No real issues with insurance companies in Canada, though...Glad I've never had to deal with a concussion. Hope to keep it that way, because I'm stubborn enough to play pointless games sick or (somewhat hurt).I'd like to think if I lost my memory, I'd take a break :). Rink Rat 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 See a doctor. Last year a teacher in my school had a minor head injury (or so he thought) and he ended up dying about a week later. I'm not trying to scare you because you had a helmet protecting you but it's just an example for how serious unchecked injuries can become.
