Practice Ice?

Recommended Posts

Well recently when I was just looking for some stuff I stumbled into this: "Practice Ice 24" X 36""

You can get it here: http://www.cyclonetaylor.com/accessories_miscellaneous.html (Scroll down)

Well my main question is this: What the heck is this?

Does anybody have this or know what it is? Or am I going to have to call and find out. There is no description about it, just that it costs $35 + Shipping.

I'm just thinking that if this is actually good quality stuff, like what the "Tape 2 Tape" uses, then I would be all over that since those things slide really nicely and my acrylic sheet just doesn't cut it.

Well if anybody knows what that product is then please post.

Thanks!

I'm assuming it's just a piece of synthetic ice. Puck slides well. That stuff is great to skate on. Too bad the place I went to closed

not for that size at that price...

I'm gonna bet it's about 1/16th of an inch. So no, you can't skate on it. But if you put it down on a flat surface you can stickhandle on it just fine. You'll need at least 1/8 of an inch for you to skate on it.

I saw this in person & IMO this is just a rip off that I'd pass on, since it's nothing more then a tiny piece of HDPE that can be bought for much less in any plastic store

irrespective of the price due to it's size (only 2' by 3') you can't do much other then stationary stickhandling & shooting - can't even do the 3 puck drill.

I have the exact one bought from thehockeyshop. It's just a shooting pad. It has very little space to do anything on it cept shoot. It's a waste of money, I only bought one because I didn't know better at the time.

A LHS that used to be around here had a nice size of the artificial practice ice, large enough to skate on. The stuff used to leave shavings of the synthetic material all over your skates. It was like sawdust.

Doubt it's all the same...but yeah it was kinda fail.

I wasn't talking about that smaller pad of synthetic ice too skate on. I skated on synthetic ice in a large facility, Which I recommend If you have the opportunity.
