Difference between high-end and low-end sticks

Recommended Posts

I know the biggest answer, other than money, is the weight of the stick. But we just got a giant Warrior shipment yesterday, and I grabbed a Bentley stick. It didn't seem that heavy by itself. Now, it was a definitely heavier than the new Dolo Spyne, but overall, the Bentley doesn't seem like a bad stick.

I guess my question is, is there THAT big of a difference between the Bentley and the Dolo Spyne other than about $110 and a few grams?

Materials, the consistency of each stick in terms of flex, and the marketing & research for higher end sticks is what drives up the prices. A S19 may only cost a little more to produce than something lower-end but the research, etc put it is significantly greater.

I would put the comparison as the difference between a Toyota and a Lexus, one is just a little bit more refined, and you are paying for the refinement even if the foundation is very similar.

That's a great summary of the main differences. What that translates to on ice is more or less puck feel, accuracy from more or less torque in the shaft, and how much the stick is working with you when you shoot. Also less weight helps reduce fatigue throughout the game.

i would assume that the S19 is a bad example, just because of the shape of the taper. it would require a separate tooling process to create the ellipse and that costs more money. the more unique parts a product has, the more expensive it is.

Keep in mind also that newer players will not notice much if any difference at all.

weight & puck feel make a pretty big/noticeable difference (this coming from a beginner).
