  1. That's what I mean...why would you buy a Kronik when you've got the newest Dolomite sitting there for not much more.
  2. Man Ragan, that would have been one sweet deal! My old boss at the shop I used to work at didn't give two shits about making customers happy, all he cared about was making the most money possible. We've had Warrior Kronik sticks that have been sitting on the rack for 2+ years now (they originally were $220) and he has them down to 170. You'd think he'd do whatever it took to just get them out the door and off his hands. Same thing with a ton of Nike Bauer goalie skates...I don't work there anymore, but after reading through this whole forum, I just want to shake him and say "offer people something for these skates, just get rid of them!"
  3. The other thing to consider is if you're not getting any bigger, the equipment costs are pretty low. Once you completely outfit yourself, it's only a matter of updating a piece here and there. It's not like you buy brand new everything very often, just sticks and gloves (well, at least that's me)
  4. Updated a few pieces of gear... Helmet - Nike Bauer 5500 with Oakley Straight Cut Elbows - RBK 8k Gloves - Warrior Franchise Washington Capitals Pro Stock (they say "Fozz" on the cuff, any idea who that is?) Pants - Mission L-1 Shins - Bauer Supreme one75 Skates - CCM U+09 Stick - Pro Stock Reebok 10K - Matt Bradley and Pro Stock Bauer Supreme one95 - Alex Semin
  5. Those are some beauties...do you notice a huge difference between the Easton holders and the Tuuks?
  6. Sweet looking visor, where'd you score that?
  7. Just got FBV at our store, so my boss used me as a guinea pig. I usually skate on 9/16, so he gave me 90/50. I couldn't tell a huge difference, but i noticed my bite was still there. No real complaints though...my boss told me next time he'll give me the deepest cut so i can really tell how much glide I don't lose.
  8. Those are some gorgeous Dallas gloves...and I don't even like the Stars!
  9. There are no words...
  10. That happens all the time at my shop! "Can I help you guys?" "Yeah, I'm looking for a size 11 in this skate." "What size shoe are you?" "11." "Yeah, you're definitely not an 11, let's size you up!" It happens more often with parents who are looking for skates for their kids, but it's surprising that even experienced skaters are sometimes so wrong about what size skate they wear.
  11. I work at a rink, and we charge $30 for baking and $15 for the first sharpening if you didn't buy the skates from us. If you bought them from us, it's all free. We consider it an incentive to buy skates from us because we fit you, take the time to figure out what you need, etc. I understand if you can find a pair of skates online for $100 or $200 less than in the stores, but it always makes me chuckle to see people who bought a pair online that was $50 cheaper than in the store, only to have to turn around and pay $45 to get them baked and sharpened.
  12. Helmet: CCM 492 with Oakley Straight Cut visor Elbows: Reebok 8K (switched from Jofa) Pants: Mission L1 (switching soon to One95 girdle) Shins: Old school Bauer Supreme 5000 Skates: Brand new CCM U+ 09's Gloves: Reebok 4K Stick: Reebok 7K Bergeron
  13. I don't think you have enough of those...better get 20-30 more to be sure...
