TotalOne vs EQ5

Recommended Posts

if a highend skate of one company is said to outperform their low end skate, can't we assume that a highend company's highend skate can outperform a lowend company's highend skate?

i dont think anyone will argue that mission ag120's are better than one95's for any given foot, so why not argue EQ5's and one95's? seems like a reasonable argument to me.

That's not a reasonable comparison because the Mission skate was a top of the line skate four years ago, but it's not on the market trying to compete with anyone today. Based on technology, a Bauer 8090 versus any of today's top end skates wouldn't really be a fair comparison either.

So I don't start a new topic and it's about Easton skates, so the new line is out, any word on the nano glide blade? It was supposed to be on the LE S17, that didn't happen, still needed testing, but not even on the EQ5? Are they still gonna release it?

If Easton is your brand and fits your foot the best, then you have made the right decision. Let us know how you like the skates. I am not busting chops but would like to hear some serious feedback from a guy that prefers Easton skates. Thanks. :)

If Easton is looking for a tester, throw my hat into the ring. I love my S-15's!

I would be very interested in hearing from people who have tried out the EQ5. My Bantam aged son loves his SyNergey SE 16 but has outgrown them. Does the EQ5 fit like the SE16? I am not interested in comparisons to the TO, Easton skates fit him much better than Bauer's and I would not spend $ 800 on a skate for someone who is still growing.

I looked at one of these and talked to an Easton rep about them last week. They are supposed to fit much like the SE series, with just a little more volume over the instep. Also the new material is supposed to be much more heat moldable than the SE was to fit a wider range of feet.

What's an instep? More Volume over the instep? Meaning more room to move your feet, or more material?

More space in the boot. If there isn't enough of an instep my thoughts would be that it would place pressure over the arch pushing down on your foot. While having extra space can be a problem, not having enough space really limits the number of feet shapes the skate can accommodate. I believe this was the main problem with the one90, and while it was a great skate it only fit a certain number of people.

EDIT: A great skate IMO

The instep is the top of your foot where the laces lie. So its a deeper boot than before supposedly which will fit a wider range of feet.

I tried it on it seems to fit similiar to the se in the heel but has more of a bauer toe box also, I fit well in a 9.5d in the se and the 9d in the eq5 I tried on from our rep had at least a half a size to spare length wise. It does have overall more volume than either the se or s17. In my opp. Its a great feeling skate I think they made a huge step in th right direction but I guess time will tell, one quam the tendon guard has the narrowest attachment I have ever seen.

Since I have a huge foot size, no. But I saw them both in like October. TO is the better skate.

And yeah...what fit your foot the best is what's best for you, but from what I gathered this thread was comparing to items regardless of fit. And if that's the case, its TO all the way.

 it hurts sometimes
