NHL's "BEST" superlatives

Recommended Posts

Nope, completely serious. I think Toews still has alot of growing to do, and he's very close, if not on par with Richards already. When he fills out and matures a bit more, oh boy.

Yeah that's what I am saying, I think they are both great. I think we are agreeing here! Tough call on who to take right now.

Hardest Slapshot- Weber or K. Foster... Foster has at least 5 panes of glass and one skate protector guard thing broken this season.

Most accurate shot - Stamkos

Hardest wrister - Semin

Quickest release - Fedotenko! haha... Kovalev, Stamkos

Best backhand - Crosby, St Louis, Getzlaf

One Timer - Stamkos, Kovalchuk

Shootout magic - Datsyuk

Best Skater - Modano

Best Hitter - Ohlund is my surprise pick because I didn't realize how good he is at timing his hits.

Best Stickhandler - Datsyuk

Best Passer - Crosby

Best Leader - Lidstrom

Best Fighter - Boogaard

Best Grinder - J. Staal

Goalies - Miller

I know I'm a little late to this party but do you mean modano "was" the best skater i.e. in his prime or this past season at the age of 39-40? I just wanted to be sure b/c I haven't watched him play much recently and am a little shocked by someone his age being picked for this category. And how are you defining best skater?

Modano has definitely lost a bit of endurance, but he can still turn it on, and is still one of the most technically smooth and cleanest skater in the league.

Exactly. He's lost a few steps but he's still as smooth as ever. It's a pleasure just to see him skate, even now with his deteriorating level of play.

Hardest Slapshot- Lidstrom

Lidstrom is far from the hardest, but I think there are less than a handful with better accuracy on a slapshot than he has.

Just saw on Bauers facebook page that during their athlete summit they held a hardest shot competition, and Stamkos hit 102.2 that has to be the best speed to player weight ratio in all of the NHL.
