Anyone's review on 2009 RBK 7k pants?

Anyone have a review on these pants? I'm comparing pants right now and looking at both the 7k and the new X:40. The price range is very similar but in terms of protection, build quality, fit, what do you guys feel? I've tried the 2009 9k- didn't like the two piece, the fit was a little snug so ventilation was a concern, but overall I liked the protection on the pant. The XXXX was also snug, but it was similar to the 9k. Both did NOT have suspender buttons, which are something I've come to love and cannot live without. Enter the X:40 and 7k, these two seem to be on the same pricing level and the same target market. Please chime in on your experience with these pants. Thanks a lot in advance!

They do have the 2010 9K pants that are not 2 piece and do have the suspender buttons - pretty sure about same protection as 9k 2 piece - minus the inner smaller plastic piece near buttocks - new ones have lighter foam padding - cheaper then old 9k's - great protection - I added an extra foam piece in the tailbone/spine area pocket - great freedom in these pants - and you can add an inch in length if needed - under $100 - must have tried one 15 different pants including tacklas and Vapor X40 core girdle and X:60 pants - liked the back spine pad in the X:40 and X:60 but finally went with the 9K's - cheaper and protection was good for me

I wore these pants for a month. Pros- great protection, good mobility, zippers on thighs are a good feature considering my usual pants are Bauer Vapor 6 from 2002/2003. Cons- putting on with the velcro around the thigh guard(it's not a big deal, just one more thing to do in the locker room if you are late and in a rush to get on the ice, the kidney protection is excellent but came up a bit too high for me. Since I am only 5'6", the kidney protect came up to the bottom of my Vapor XXXX shoulder pads and pushed the SP up sometimes. Sitting on the bench, the SPs automatically got pushed up. The Vapor 6 pants have a very streamlined kidney pad that no other pants have. It is just something I got used to and matched up well with my shoulder pads. These are the things to think about when looking at RBK 7K pants.

I'm 5'7" with a 33-34" waist. I also feel that the pants are very well made in regards to protection. They don't get much more protective than these. However, at my height, I feel that the pants are a tad long and the kidney protection does come up a bit high. I also have problems with it pushing up my mission shoulder pads. Also I own a size medium. When I cinch it down all the way, it is still loose and hangs low on my waist. I have to wear suspenders, or it feels sloppy on me.

I just bought the Reebok 7K's on sale at my local hockey shop to replace my severely torn Easton S-7's. The pros to this pant are better than average protection, great ventilation and mobility, leg zippers on the inside of the leg, and adjustable thigh pads.( both length and width) The cons are they are a slightly bulkier fit than my previous pants, you need to adjust the thigh pads when you get them and they need to wear in a bit so your shin pads can slide through easier when you put them on and they are a looser fitting pant so you'll probably need to wear suspenders with them. You can't tighten them around your waist like Tacklas or Eastons and wear them like that unless you go down a size. All in all I find them a good pant once their worn in and your shins slide through the thigh pad openings freely. As previously mentioned the protection in Reebok is second to none and what I like the best is the JDP pads in the hips and tailbone. They are cupped to disperse the energy around your joints when you get hit or fall. The spine guard is heavy duty and comes up high on the lower back and is also contoured in the same way as the hip and tailbone . I give them an eight on a scale from one to ten.

I was looking at the 7k's as well. Ive been searching all over for a pant that fits like the old tacks 852's, but i cant find any big enough (I wore an XXL in the tacks). Will a xlarge 7k fit, since they are a looser fit? What about a 9k?

Awesome. Gonna try them on this week then. Are these fitted around the thighs too (like the CCM Vector series)?
