Vapor XXXX shaft with a X:60 blade?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I recently bought a X:60 composite blade, thinking to replace the Vapor Pro blade I broke with my Vapor XXXX shaft.

Being an idiot, I didn't look at the number on the shaft, and looking at it now it says it's a .620 shaft. The X:60 is a .520 tapered blade, so would it be a bad idea to use the X:60 blade with it?

I know there are threads on it, but I couldn't find a conclusive answer.

I suspect I f***ed up, but I'm just hoping I'm wrong. I distinctly remember the Vapor Pro blade being shorter than other blades, so I'm thinking I should have bought the X:20 blade. I just didn't figure Bauer wouldn't make a top-of-the-line shaft and not have blades that work well with it (I tried putting an Easton with the Vapor XXXX and it felt like the flex point had changed and was pretty terrible to play with).

He said its said .620 on the shaft so it's a standard xxxx shaft. X60 blade won't work as it is tapered.

Then hes got a pro or smu shaft. XXXX retail shafts were tapered.

I'm aware of that. I thought that was established when he said he had a vapor xxxx shaft that said .620 on it............

You need standard blades. Vapor xxxx blade is tapered. Get a bauer one95 blade

Under normal circumstances, you'd have been correct. The X60 is the XXXX's successor and their blades should be interchangeable as they're both for the a tapered format. However, since your shaft shows the size for a standard shaft, you must have a pro stock one. In this case, you need standard blades.
