Bauer Elite Products in Canada

Recommended Posts

I was browsing through the Pro Hockey Life web site, and noticed that the all Bauer Elite products cannot be purchased online or by phone.

IE: http://prohockeylife.com/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=3444

Please note, elite level products are available for purchase in-store only. Visit a megastore near you and speak with our specialists to have your gear professionally fitted- assuring you the best performance and safety.

I can understand getting your skates fitted in store, but who cares about getting fitted when it comes to gloves, helmet and most protective equipment.

If this has been discussed before, sorry for this topic.

My biggest beef is the lack of bauer sticks available for order. One of the employees said it had something to do with a lack of shipping insurance, so they want to keep orders at a low replacement cost in case they get lost.

Your talking about PHL?

This policy is imposed by Bauer, and all canadian dealers are suppose to follow this rule.

Anyone had any chance buying elsewhere?

I think cyclone taylor and the hockey shop have the same rule imposed on them bye Bauer, really sucked when everyone in my town was out of one95 shafts and the hockey shop wouldn't ship me one.

We can't buy from the states and we can't bye online, I get supporting the LHS but it would be nice to have some option.

Anyone know why Bauer does this?

Funny thing, I was also looking for a one95 shaft, and it was at PHL. Eventually I got referred to a friend of a friend kind of thing who Ordered me one through his store. Good luck in your search.

They do this to protect dealers. They've had this policy for quite some time now.

How exactly does it protect dealers? Price wise?

What about people who do not have access to stores and wont drive 6-7 hrs to buy some Bauer elite products?

Well, that's why it is in Canada and not in the US. There's a difference between "can't" and "won't." You'll most likely find a LHS in Canada within 6-7 hrs, not so much in the US.

If you live in Quebec(profile says Montreal), why not try Gilbert Rousseau, same company as PHL. Also you have a ton of other great dealers that sell Bauer elite product. Not sure how you'd have to drive 6-7 hours to find a store.

Bauer has canada pretty much covered in elite product with geographic distribution strategy so there is little duplication on top product outside of Major centres.

I do understand the online price policy in Canada, but when you live in Northern Quebec or Northern Canada, it is next to impossible to visit hockey shops, your only option is to shop online.

I just dont understand why Bauer wouldn't want to sell more high end in far away regions, even if the sales would be of a few thousands dollars.

I guess Ill never know lol

Checked thehockeyshop.com today and they've removed more or less every single Bauer item from their site, even ones not classified as "elite". Did Bauer change the policy again? I'm all for supporting the LHS and I do but it's pretty ridiculous when your LHS is about 75% lacrosse and baseball this time of year and you can't get a Bauer stick or even a replacement blade to save your life.
