My New Z-Air Comps!

Recommended Posts

I picked these up at the Pittsburgh Penguins equipment sale. I was told that they were a pair of Ryan Whitney's that he never wore. They appear to have more padding inside and the tounge is thick felt, not what I have seen on z-air comps in the LHS.

Anyone ever see these in Black?

Are they really pro stock? How do you tell?

Any Idea what year they are from?

I am having black custom+'s installed on them in the next couple says, I'm sure they will look pretty good. I will post some pics afterwards.

I really like the fit of the skate, they feel great and I have not even had em baked yet. Any possitives or negatives with the skates? I am a 2nd year player that has been skating on some old beat 3000's. 6ft, 200lbs

Got em for $50

Sorry, new to the board, didn't see that, maybe the moderator can move this post to that thread when he finds time. Thanks for the heads up

Damn. When was the sale? I couldn't find it on the site when I checked a month or so ago.

They didn't have a traditional, "equipment sale," it was a, "shopping day," they had some skates, 100 sticks, other odds and ends, and regular merchandise from PensStation on sale. It was discussed for what it really was in the, "Pro Equipment Sales," thread. You did not miss anything. Look at Ziggy's Sports or Power Play Auctions on eBay if you want Penguins' gear from this past season.

I had a pair of these skates (retail) and I loved them. Had no complaints at all. All of the feedback I got on these skates from other players using them was very positive. I think they were the top skate in Easton's skate line in 04. I would bake them, they are a very stiff skate. You got a great deal.

Man I loved these Skates! Top of the line in '04 was the Z-Air Comp & SE's (All Silver) I've ebay'd a couple pairs of 11.5D over the years since then, but have yet to come across an 11.5EE :(

Why not just try the skates w/ the factory holders b4 you spend more on them. You may actually like them.

The skates came with no holder or runner on the right skate. None of the local LHS's have the holder. I would have to order the holder and 2 new runners over the net which is gonna cost me about $$70 to my door, then I have to pay $20 to have the one holder installed. The guy is putting the tuuk's on for $80 is also giving me a free bake and sharpen.

I have not heard much good about the easton holders, or, specifically the runners.

The Easton holders aren't horrible, the Tuuks are just that much better. Easton runners are great when they are non-parabolic.
