Skate sharpener holder recommendation neeed

Recommended Posts

I recall a holder that had big ice tong like clamps but I don't remember who made it. You could sharpen a skate like that in a Dupliskate, but that would require purchasing a new machine. Curious, do you get a lot of those model?

I think you might be thinking of the Blackstone scissor clamp.

A more conventional holder for that type skate would be the Blademaster SH3500.

Nah. A store wants to buy a table top sharpener and this is the only skate model they have a BS tri-lie holder won't won't work for.

I alredy inquired Black about the Scissor Clamp. No stock.

It's a chain store that is looking for aa few Blackstone machines and the only obstacle for them is this darn youth size skate they carry:)

Thanks guys!

My old shop had one of the blackstone self adjusting clamps. It never really worked well for us, and they may still have it. If they do, I'm sure my old partner would sell it. PM me if you want the details.

Wouldn't it be easier (and better) to change the model skate than reconfig all machines. That's a crappy skate and what, profit is about $10 on it. I hate sharpening those, the metal is so soft it melts into the stone, gumming it up. There are plenty of cheap skates that are similarly priced that will fit in a regular holder. Seems like an easier way out.

That is the only one available that will work for this skate. It's a beast...not as beastly as the BS Scissor Clamp. I dropped one of those on my leg once. Had a bump bigger than a golfball. Thing weighs like 50 lb.

Agree. But... it's hard to convince a huge sporting goods chain to drop the skates they probably get at $10 or so and resell at $50.

Ahhhh isnt it safe to say that the people buying this skate would not know if the skate was sharp or dull? What I am saying is that I think you could make do, do the best you can with what you have. They will never know the difference. Of course I say this with a part of my toungue in cheek kind of.
