kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted July 15, 2010 Can anyone recommend any? Looking for a shop with a good selection of sticks/shafts/blades.
MattKingDelToro 2 Report post Posted July 15, 2010 Power Play Hockey, right by the Shark Tank. Prices aren't great, but last I checked they had a great selection of shafts and blades. They even had some old Easton Z-Bubbles and Ultra Lites. Hockey X Sport in Oakland is a bit of a drive but has a good selection and very good prices.

Tailboard Jockey 25 Report post Posted July 15, 2010 The only hockey shops in the Bay Area, closest to furthest from San Jose, are:Power Play Hockey, Sharks Ice San Jose, East West Hockey South, Sharks Ice Fremont, Hockey X Sport, and East West Hockey Redwood City. goaliemanshark 6 Report post Posted July 15, 2010 Well there is inline sports too, as well as sharks ice oakland. They both kind of suck though. Also hockey xsport is much further from San Jose then EWH redwood city.
_HSB_b345t 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2010 EWH doesn't have anything! I've been there 4 times in the last year or so. Every trip, their inventory dwindles. This last trip, about 2 months ago, they had (not exaggerating) 10 RH sticks, at best 25 LH sticks, about 10 pairs of gloves on the wall and a smattering of junior protective. It was depressing. I wouldn't even bother. Go to Xsport. You will not be disappointed.
Tailboard Jockey 25 Report post Posted July 16, 2010 Also hockey xsport is much further from San Jose then EWH redwood city. Not if you're going there from Fremont. My bad for not being more clear.I've actually driven this route when I've been totally desperate to find some new piece of hockey gear, and a whole day to kill some time. twolinepass 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2010 I was going to post this exact thread.. I assume M sports is gone? I heard that power play always has a lot of older over priced items and the pro shop at Sharksice is really expensive. So is X sport the best option?
toddmanley 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2010 X sport is in the middle of re-organizing their entire store. It looked like two-thirds is done and it's great. Much more effective use of space with shelving and multiple racks holding gear. Given it's a warehouse and the ceilings are high, they're going to be able to stock up a lot more gear in the racks that reach toward the ceiling.

Power Play is a little bit pricey, but a good selection, comparable to Hockey X-Sport. Sharks Ice has a small inventory, but not any more expensive than Hockey X-Sport. They will usually add shipping to it though. They do not always advertise this, but if you bring it up they will match prices. Hope this helps.
twolinepass 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2010 Random but I figured this was the place to ask... In terms of talent do the better players play with the Jr. Sharks or the Blackhawks?
ktang 34 Report post Posted May 2, 2011 Went to Hockey X-Sport to try to take advantage of the strong Canadian dollar. Good selection and pretty good prices. Almost bought some skates, but at this time of year they didn't have my size.
nnguyen 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2011 Hockey X-Sport is definitely the best shop in the bay area, inventory is relatively full (compared to East/West hockey) and prices are decent. For those in San Jose that don't like to get ripped off at Power Play, there is Rollin Ice for basic needs such as sticks and gloves (prices are standard and inventory is pretty new). Obviously, there are no ice skates there. Also, if you're in the bay area and know what you want already, ordering from Icewarehouse is pretty quick too as they are in San Luis Obispo. Some of my orders have shown up in 2 days for standard ground shipping.
