RichardsIsTheMan 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 Hey guys, I've been doing some research on skates, I'm looking for a replacement for my old Bauer Vapor XXX's. I like my Bauers, but I did have some trouble with lacebite, so I had to get the tongue replaced a few times. Anyway, I came across these MLX skates that intrigued me. They feature removable tongues and replaceable tendon guards. Oh and another cool thing was being able to adjust the skate blades. I saw that Malkin and Byfuglien were wearing them last season. This is their website, http://mlxskates.com/index.html. Anyone know anything more about these skates?
troy 12 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 Search next time, use the Google site search when looking for terms three or less characters. http://www.modsquadh...-now-available/That said, I was in the same exact situation as you with my XXXs and am now waiting on custom X60s. And if you're paying $800 for MLX, my opinion is to spend similar, or lower amounts, on a custom pair of skates.

Vathsdrop 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 It's quite amazing how there's not a single arousing skate on the market right now.X60 nothing much more compared to XXXX. One of the worst lining ever (pretty on the picture), even amateurs manage to ruin them in one season. MAde in Thailand (they have a reasonable x50 though)Totalone, doesn't have the stiffness level of the one95/100 + made in thailand + 800dollars RBK 11k, fancy but I still didn't get what's the difference with the old 9k and the rest of the line is a complete joke (at least it's made in canada)waiting for U+ CL, but chances are it's gonna be the same sh*t than the U+

The original U+ Pro... not so much.

The fit for me personally was really nice with very good heel lock even with out heat molding. The only negative I can say is that for being called crazy light it really isnt. I personally don't care tons about the weight since it still isn't a heavy skate. This is only from trying on so who knows how well it translates from store floor to the ice. If you don't like stock options, why not get customs so you could choose your liner and stiffmess. Isn't that what most people would do if they don't like the retail selection of skates. What do you find wrong with the U+ reloads? There's plenty of people including myself that have been happy with them.
