Recommended Posts

Greetings all, maybe you guys can help me out on this one , I'm in the market for high end pants, will probably settle on tackla,

What is the difference between : tackla 5000x pro vs tackla 9000 air ? Besides the $10 in price ,

They both are a high end pant. The 5000 will fit more snug if your a heavier person. The 9000 will fit more traditionaly. I consider the 5000 t0 be the perfect go between of a gurdle and shell and the more traditional pant. But as said earlier; You cant go wrong.

how do they suppose to sit ? High up like bauer ? Is there enough tailbone and back protection bc that's primarily y I'm getting them. Also is the movement or mobility effected in any way ?

I found that the 5000 (what I use) sits a bit high and is extremely protective but not bulky. But as they all say on here; You have to try them on for yourself.

The 5000 is a very comfortable pant. In my opinion you may be able to do a bit better with tailbone protection. I bought a pair of Franklin pro stock pants from Hockeyworld a couple of years ago,and they seem to have better tailbone protection. That being said the 5000 still provides solid protection all around. I still wear them most of the time. I'd just maybe look around a bit more if you really needed the best there is in tailbone protection.

The 5000X or 5000 Airs are more than adequate protection and can be used right up to the pro level. They take a while ( 8 to ten games) to break in nicely but it's well worth the wait. Extremely flexable and durable pant with good ventilation and mobility. This is the main pant I use and one of the best I've ever owned, I highly recommend them. Again, it may take some time to adjust to the fit but once you are used to the European fit it's really hard to go back to the bulkier and stiffer fit of a North American made pant. I really can't comment on the 9000 because I have never owned a pair so I'll leave that to someone who has.

Well the 9000 is a traditional fit and the 5000x is going to be tight because its a 2 piece. Both have great protection, can't go wrong.

There are plenty of baggy 2 piece pants. Bauer's old style pro pant for example (not one95 or x:60). The Easton Pro Pant (not the ST Pro Pant) is baggy and loose too.
