Sad to see such a young (and heralded/genetic) hockey player call it quits, but it isn't like we haven't seen this before.

Didn't find a Washington Caps 10-11 thread (whattup allsmokenopancake?), but just wondering if you guys share my sentiments. Got to see him play in development camps, certainly didn't look out of place.

Perhaps he just didn't feel like riding the buses in the minors and earning his shot or maybe the guy just got really homesick or it could even be some form of depression. Who knows but beer leagues are full of guys with all of the skill but none of the drive.

Considering who his father is (and especially within the same organization), I'm pretty sure it's the former. Just an educated guess though.

I was looking forward to seeing him play here in SC. I guess he thought being a first round pick he should have made Washington already? (johansson did...)

Or maybe he found out what happened the last time a caps first rounder got sent to the ECHL.

Daigle syndrome? Good at hockey but doesn't love it? Not the right organization for him? Or just doesn't have the makeup to be an NHL player? I guess time will tell

Being Around minor hockey a lot, I think it disgusting how young it starts for kids. I see 8 year old kids getting private lessons , but at the end of the day there are so many other kids doing it, there is tough competition.
