Holder repair , help

Recommended Posts

I stripped the back screw on my pitch 3 holders and was wondering if anyone knows of a place i can buy or order a replacement ( or 2 preferably , incase this happens again ).The female ( nut ) end ,i assume is ok its just the head of the screw thats stripped out.i called my local shop and they said they hav'nt had any pitch 3 parts for a few months and dont think they can get any more. i was gonna try and drill it out and find a screw and nut at lowes or something , but the nut end has the slots in it to adjust the "pitch" of the runner. So that wont do any good , without both peices. Any input would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

you could always buy apair of missions w/pitch 3 holders off ebay.and if they are your size you get an extra set of steel.

right now im thinking about getting some LS2's and stickin them on my 120's

Im deffinately willing to " get creative " and use a similar type of screw , purchased from a local hardware store. my only problem is getting the screw out without drilling it. tips are desperatly welcomed!

Is it just an allen headed bolt? If so you can use a torx to get it out. Take the torx and force it into the stripped allen head with a small hammer and the teeth of the torx will spin it out.

There are a couple of options. a penetrating oil to help loosen rust, A vice grip to grab the screw head, A dremel to make a slot 90 degrees to the stripped slot, or an ez-out.

You need to be careful that you don't break the head off or you'll be drilling and tapping.

no , the pitch 3 screw has a square headed bolt. mission sends a tool with the skates, and now that ive looked at it , thats also appears to be rounded.

this could be the ticket. if i dremel a slot in the screw head ill be able to loosen or tighten the screw with a stanadared flat screwdriver. thanks, Im gona try this after work tomorrow

An easy out or screw extractor requires you to drill into the head, but not into the threads. I've had good luck with the Black and Decker version. Home Depot sells this one as well.

Way easier than trying to dremel a slot in the head of the bolt. You'll damage the holder doing that.

I have special bits that are designed to remove screws/bolts with stripped heads. Is this not what you need?

yes , what happens is the back screw on my left hoder keeps coming loose. the other day , i wanted to pull the screws out so i could put some lock tight on them , but that screw is stripped out. wont loosen , wont tighten. i just want to get it out so i can replace it.

combined with this

If you are willing to get a little creative, a flange button socket cap screw would be a good alternative to the actual pitch bolt.

has done the trick. ill skate on it a few times to make sure there is no problems before i use the lock tight. thanks boys!
