11k shaft vs one95 tapered shaft

Recommended Posts

I have a little money that's burning a hole in my pocket right now. I'm interested in trying a new top-end shaft that I haven't used before. The two that interest me the most are the tapered one95 and the 11k.

Has anyone used both? I'd be very psyched to hear a head-to-head comparison. Suggestions of a good blade pairing would also be welcomed. If anyone has suggestions for other shafts, fire away (using TPS R9XN10s, an R8XN10). I currently use Inno tapered blades or TPS Pro stocks.

I'm leaning toward the 11k, but not for any real reason other than I can find 'em. I'm 6'1" 235, solid skills, heavy shot, mostly wristers. I prefer 100-ish flex.

Depending on the outcome of this, I may be adding a thread in the buy column as well. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I don't know if the 11k feels the same as old sickkicks but they tend to "feel" a lot stiffer due to the lowered kick points. Some people, like me, will drop down in their flex because of this.

I can tell you that the 11K feels much beefier in the hands than the One95 tapered. I'm also considering giving the 11k shaft a whirl.

For sure. The One95 feels more delicate than the 11k. I think this is just because the corners are a little boxier on the 11k, but the feel is pretty substantially different.

11K only comes in grip which is annoying

Agreed. I'd LOVE an 11k shaft that came in the matte finish they offer on the OPS.

Willy, as far as the 11k goes, remember that the shaft is 56" long. I thought the Bauer shafts were long at 54", but not compared to Reebok's I guess. And I'd also heard before that like the X60, Reebok pushed the kickpoint way down on the 11k, hence making it feel even stiffer.

For the record, I LOVE my tapered One95. The corners are rounded, even slightly more than the X60 (pop the end plugs on both and you'll see that the shaft shapes are slightly different). They kick hard and I'm sure you'd love the 102 flex ones if you could get used to the shaft profile. I only hope that mine don't break as quickly as both of my standard One95 shafts have. It's also SUPER light: my tapered One95 shaft that has been cut 1.5" and with an SE16 blade weighs in at 428 grams after tape.

Thanks for the input so far, guys!

I'm not a big fan of grip, either. I can live with it if the shaft kicks like hell, though.

Scotty, do the one95 tapered shafts feel a bit like a pro radius tricore to you (except maybe a bit bigger)?

I've only held a one95 tapered shaft once and liked the feel of the shaft. I don't care much for boxy shafts, even though my hands are pretty big.

I don't like boxy shafts either. I feel they limit my range of wrist motion.

It's been so long since I have held a pro radius TPS shaft of any sort, but from what I remember of them, it is probably close. The tapered One95 shafts are around the same thickness as the X60s, just with more radiused corners. I love rounded shafts, so I noticed the difference, but most just think they feel like an X60 shaft (as far as shaft profile).

Scotty, I was sure surprised to read about your bad luck with the standard one95 shafts. I take it you've had better luck with the tapered ones?

Oh yes. Been using the tapered ones for a couple months now. My current one has taken some good hacks and such and is still going strong. I know the manufacturing process is the same on all of Bauer's shafts, so I'm not sure what the reasons for such quick breakage on my other standard ones.
