DR or Bauer shin guards?

Recommended Posts

Don't have personal experience with DR but they seem like a generic brand but I have used and disliked the Bauers because of its fit. I think one important thing to consider is whether or not you flop your tongues or tuck them in.If you tuck, then I would suggest against the Bauers because it is a snugger fit.

I have big legs and never liked the strap on the DR shins. If you have thinner legs it shouldn't be a problem. Their higher end pads were actually pretty nice back when we had them in my shop.

Thanks for the tips. I went with the Bauers because I liked the simpler straps. x-axis, I agree with the point you made about the bauers. I found it hard to skate with them tucked into the tounges, but I think they will be better over the top of the tounge, I'll try that next game. I'm in Australia, there is limited range available here so you have to use what you can get.

I like the DR pads a lot, but you're right - the straps were'nt the best. The pads, I found, were very comfortable, protective, and pretty light.

In fact DR products are generally pretty good. Over the past few years I've used their shins, obviously, gloves, and elbows (which really impressed me) as well as sets of their goals.

Interesting. Did you wear them over or under the skate tounge?

I always wear over the top, just feels more comfortable to me that way...

Hockeyaussie, I'm in Melbourne and have an low-end pair of Sherwoods and Bauer one95s, both 15'' if you're interested.
