Clicking while going on ice skates!

Recommended Posts

I have bought a new 11k and noticed that on both skates the Steel clicks when i go to the ice. Is this just normal or is there something wrong. I had this on a Bauer skate but only one, were the steel always broke and i'm realy sure that that was the reason.

Thanks

My best guess would be that you have scalloped steel on your skates , and because of your weight it is causing the steel to "click" against the holder. I have had this occur to me since I bought my skates about 8-9 months ago and have not had any problems.

CCM holders are notorious for this. Tightening the screws can sometimes help, but I've found that not always to be the case. Do try that, though - just don't overtighten to the point where it breaks.

What about cheaper skates? My x15's click too. I checked the blade and it's stable, and I don't have any problems skating that practice wouldn't fix. It's a single piece runner-blade. I'm assuming its no big deal. I only weigh about 160.

I have a pair of Vapor XXX's...the left skate clicks. My sharpener says that sometimes it happens that the holder just doesn't grab them perfectly or they warp a little after use. As long as the blade is tight and doesn't move around, you should be fine.
