Warrior Projekt Girdle

Recommended Posts

Has the length been good for you, looks like they cover your knees completely in the pic?

The length has been excellent. I put my shin pads on first and then the girdle. I then position the thigh pads so they just overlap with the top pad flaps, but they're above the plastic knee caps. There's no interference when I'm skating and the coverage is great. I've only worn them twice now, but they're light, very mobile and allow complete freedom of movement.

I'm interseted in buying the projekt girdle but I need some advice on sizing, I'm a 32 to 34 waist depnding on my work out schedule and I'm close to 6 feet tall. I currently have the Bauer x40s in medieums but they are getting a little short length, but feel good around the waist. Would it be best to go with mediums for the fit around the waist or the larges because I have long legs. Thanks

Projekt girdle runs tight. I'd recommended large, best bet is to buy it at your LHS so you can try them on first.

Definitely try them on if you can. I don't think they're overly tight overall - it's just the belts that are short. Medium might be fine for you with a longer belt. Personally I'm 6'2" and have about a 36" waist and a large with a longer belt fits me well (both around the waist and lengthwise).

The problem is they do not have them at my lhs so I'll have to take a 3 hour road trip down south or just buy a new pair of bauers, thanks though.

Also considering this product, but have a question. The photos look like there is a thin pad next to the main thigh pad, slightly toward the inside of the thing under the Velcro strap. Is this correct? Is there some inner thigh protection? Took a puck there the other night and now thinking something more protective would be in order. Currently wear traditional pants, Easton that are very solid, but they leave open room in that area. Maybe a girdle would be better? Thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Yes, there is a thin pad next to the main thigh pad right beside where the velcro strap attaches. That pad isn't very dense. The dense pads are for the thigh, upper and lower hip area, and tailbone. There are less dense pads for the upper thigh, back of the leg ect. There will be some gaps on any pants or girdle because if the padding was thick all over then you wouldn't be able to move in them well at all. The Projekts are a great girdle, but there are some gaps and less protected areas. The inner thigh isn't very well protected (there is that one small pad you noticed), but that's not an area where I've seen a lot of protection on any girdle or pant.

Noticed this the other day on the monkey site. Thought it was a weird item for hockey, but I guess it would help with that area:

The older pants I've used were woefully underpadded on the hips and inner thighs. I had a pair of Kohos that would leave me with grapefruit-sized bruises on my hips after literally every game. These look pretty useful.

Would anyone be willing to update the longevity of the Warrrior Projekt Gurdle as well as the possibilities or rumors of an update from warrior. I know the newest catalog doesn't reflect an update but maybe someone knows a little more.

I've been using the girdle for quite a while now and the only issues I've had were with the belt (too short - simply used a longer belt) and a bit of stitching came loose beside the tail bone protector on the back. The stitching issue happened early on (after a month or two of use) and I had it restitched and it's held up very well since then. They probably would've been fine even without the restitching as it was only a couple inches of loose thread on each side, but I figured it was better to have them sewn to ensure the problem didn't get worse. I've had no other issues with them and am very happy with them. I think the stitching came loose when I tried to pull the pants on with the original belt which was too small - the stitching may not have come loose otherwise.

As far as I know there's no update to the girdle this year. I asked the rep this question at the Winterfest event and it's being continued, but hasn't been updated. The gloves, shoulders, eblows and shins have all been updated and there are new Projekt pants, but no new girdle this year. I really don't think they need to change much with the girdle other than using a longer belt. Velcro tabs to hold up your socks (right now I attach them to my underarmour long pants) would also be a nice addition for the next version.

I've used it for about a year now and have no complaints. Durability has been great, no problems, and I haven't even had a problem with the belt. I don't understand why they made it quite so short, but it hasn't caused me any problems (though I can see how it might, with some people).

For the record, I'm about 5'11" and size 32 waist and a large is a perfect fit for me.

Greatly appreciated guys. Thank you for your input and to anyone else who adds

I'm considering the projekt girdle. I wear Easton EQ30 pants now, and because im a fatass i have to wear suspenders that are cranked so tight the buckles are actually on the top of my shoulders, or else they fall down. I'm wondering if a girdle might eliminate this issue a bit since they are tight fitting rather than somewhat loose (because im fat, my pants are very large but they have to be in order for me to be able to get them around my waist).

Thoughts?

Oh, and is that a cup holder (lol?) I see? Or would I wear normal jock shorts under this?

The spandex type of material in the girdle should help it fit better as long as you get the corrrect size and use a belt with it that works for you.

Yes, it does have a built in cup holder, but there's no dedicated spot to attach your socks. What I do is wear long performance underwear with velcro tabs on them and use those to attach the socks (I put the performance underwear on first, then my shins, then the sock and then pull the girdle over the shins and put the shell on over that), but use the cup holder in the girdle and I find that works well. Another option would be to try to attach the socks to the velcro in the thigh adjustment area or sew some sock tabs onto the girdle somewhere, but I like to wear long wicking pants (and shirts) under my gear anyway so I haven't bothered trying either of those options.

I purchased mine almost a year ago now. Belt was short but I just took it out. Garter + shell belt was more than enough for me. Why have belt on garter waist band on top of another belt? Just my opinion.
