Skate liner ripped - Fixable?

Recommended Posts

I've got a pair of Bauer XIX where the liner has ripped where it meets the inside of my right heel.

You can basically touch and see the white hard plastic underneath.

A local shoe shop offered to patch it with some leather for about $35-40. Is this a good fix?

I don't know if that's a good fix or not but I have had a pair of skates completely re-lined before.

I did that for both my pairs of 8090s. They used the same material as the original sktates, and re-lined the back half of the skate completely (up to the eyelets and back to the tendon guard).

The stitching around the eyelets re-stiffened the skate, and it's been 2 years now with no problems.

Where did you get yours done? Might have to do that on my 8090s soon as well...

So if the liner can be replaced in a skate, can extra padding be sewn in to say an ankle area to increase heel lock? As an example I have a pair of Vapor skates that are a great fit except my heels lift a bit.

Anyone know a place around Vancouver that'll do this?

Or a place that I can ship them to?

I shipped mine to George's Hockey Repair in Minnesota. I want to say I paid something like $80 but that was for both skates and they did a repair on my tendon guards as well.
