Snow buildup on toecap

Recommended Posts

I've been meaning to ask this for a while. Every game, at some point I look down and have snow stuck on my toecap on my left skate, just on the inside, not the outside (so basically my big toe). Does this mean anything in terms of something I might be doing wrong? I have a feeling maybe it does indicate something about my skating although I am not a great skater so I'm not even sure I'd be able to fix something I might be doing wrong. The steel really isn't that low, I'm skating on Vapor XIX skates, they're a good skate for me.

Or maybe this is normal and I just am not looking at other peoples' skates?

My first thought would be that your ankle is "breaking down" a bit on turns and that toe is dragging on the ice a bit, but I would think that you would feel it.

I'm thinking that when turning to the right, the left foot is just kind of along for the ride and all of the pressure and weight is being put on the right skate.

I have lot of snow on right holder and little bit on left. I think that depend from skating style. From injures also, my left ankle has limited movement range.

my first thought was, that he is probably stopping mostly to one/the right side...

I'm going to agree with this fine gentleman.

Do you have a tendency to stop on your left foot or is your left foot your dominant foot?

Hmmmm... I think I stop on my right foot a lot more. Thanks for the replies, I'll have to take a look at my skating a bit more and see what the deal is. Maybe I'm dragging the left skate at some point and don't realize it.
