Montreal Canadiens hockey game

Recommended Posts

I am going to Montreal with a friend in February. Since I am there I am hoping to watch the Leafs play the Canadiens. The tickets are sold out on their website and stub hub and ticketexchange are charging an arm and a leg. I was also thinking of Craigslist but there is not much options on there for me. Is there any other ideas/ways I can get an affordable ticket ?

The only thing I can think is wait to game day and hopefully they will release any unclaimed tickets for public sale. Well that's what they do for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Thanks

You're in Canada, it's hockey, it's the NHL, it's a game between two Canadian clubs, and they just happen to have a pretty epic rivalry. You're not gonna get in the door for cheap. I'm actually a little surprised there's anything left on stubhub this late, regardless of the asking price.

Try Ebay, fanexchange or scalpers at the game. Like the previous poster said, unreal rivalry, people want to go to the game regardless if one team is on top of the east and one team is struggling. You won't get in for cheap.

There will be no unclaimed tickets.

Your best bet is to go down to the Bell Centre during the week of the game and buy tickets from a scalper. The closer to game day the prices go up. I you still have nothing by game time, the scalpers will sell the tickets after the first period at a more reduced price.

Nearly all tickets are sold out within 2 hours of sale on day 1. They release a few hundred on the net on the 15th of each month that they held back on, but you're still in competition with everyone else for them

thanks for the tips.

do you think stubhub is more safer than ebay ? With Stub hub it seems like legalized scalping which they claim you are guranteed legit tickets ?

ok, I think I have a course of action and try to get a ticket for the nose bleeds (400 level) but I am wondering if there are certain sections you want to avoid ? At first I thought the best is the centre ice line but I saw this picture and I see some obstructions which may hinder my view. Is it best to get a seat in the corners ? I don't think I want to sit in the ends, the safety net bothers me.

Sitting on the sides can be an issue, unless you like the press box obscuring everything above the height of the boards. The best seats are at the ends though, more of a party atmosphere but be warned - I've been to many Montreal vs Toronto matches in those zones and if you're a Leaf fan it would be wise not to wear a Leaf jersey unless you're prepared to just soak up all the heckles and jeers quietly...

Many of the hardcore fan sit in the nose bleed sections :)

Kind of off topic but why is it that scalping is illegal (it is, right?) yet cops do nothing about it? I mean there are like a dozen guys around the arena yelling 'tickets, tickets!' and nobody seems to care about it. It's annoying that I have to pay 100$ for a 30$ ticket.

I always kind of wondered that myself. Scalping is illegal by law. The only time I have seen cops do something is last year when a couple of teenagers got busted on private private property. Other than that I think the 'organized' scalpers get away by staying on public property. They tend to stand on the sidewalk and a fair distance from the actual building. Sometimes I see some human mules go up and down private property soliciating potential buyers/sellers.

Anyhow, from my observations all the big players/scalpers are part of a group/gang. If have tickets to sell and try to sell them on the scene they are going to harass/chase you off their 'turf'
