TPS Response R8 Shaft

Recommended Posts

i have the distributed by sherwood version. they're a bit stiff for me so i can't give a thorough review, but its super light weight, noticeably blade heavy so i've had to use wood plugs to balance it out. it does kick as hard a any other stick i've used, likely harder if i can ever get around the flex. feel is kinda funky since i have one95 blades in it; light weight shaft with a heavy(er) blade. still a very good combination i'm using for my back up right now.

i'll probably grab a totalone blade for it eventually as those blades are a bit lighter and stiffer and would probably match up better.

Hey K,

If you like thin shaft dimensions, then this is a good shaft for you. I've used mostly Easton shafts and I couldn't get used to the thin R8 shaft. It is much more narrow than Easton shafts and the Bauer one95 shaft, as another example.

Can't find any info on this shaft, except for the tapered in Reviews. Anybody used it? Experiences, comparisons, etc? Thanks.

i just purchased one like 2 weeks ago after breaking my redlite and needed another stick till i get my new redlite from fatwabbit. It's lighter then any of the new shafts in the market but i can't see it holding up for to long as it doesn't give me that solid feel of my redlite or other shafts in the market. No problems with the feel though so it it would be a good forward shaft if you don't play D much or take to many faceoffs

There are both regular and thin shaft dimensions for the R8 standard and tapered shafts. I had to give the thin R8's to my brother as he uses intermediate gloves.

I actually like both the standard and tapered versions of the R8 shafts. They are my favorite shafts after the XN10 redlite and R2 shafts.

I had a Wellwood Pro-Stock R8. Dunno if it'll be any different but it was a very rounded shaft, think Vapor like. As well, it was really light, and had amazing kick. Only downside was that overall it was too stiff for me(100+). But I really did like it, I probably would've stockpiled if it was an 80 flex or so.

Thanks, folks. I'm also looking at the Combat 52 Cal or 45 Cal and the Warrior AK27. Any comparison thoughts?

I've used both an R8 standard shaft and a 52 Cal tapered pretty regularly over the last few months.

My feelings on the R8 are the same as others - weight is awesome, dimensions are a bit smaller, which I like (it isn't the "pro" rounded one, but it is still rounder compared to most others), but the regular flex one is a bit too stiff for me, and the whip flex just a bit too light (obviously preference here).

The 52 Cals....lighter than the R8s, these are the "rounded" version so they are actually similar in terms of dimension to the R8s. The 80 flex is PERFECT for me, and the 90 feels slightly stiffer than the regular R8. No matter what blade I put in them, though, the feel is a little more "dead" than with the various R8 setups I have used. This one gets less play than the TPS (though recently I switched back to the pre-SWD R8 OPS I've got kicking around).

Like NextBobbyOrr said, if the R8 shaft had come in an 80 flex I would have scooped up a few.
