Need skate with fit similar to Easton

Recommended Posts

I am currently skating with a pair of Easton S12's (size 6.5w). I have a wide, flat foot and these were the closest fit I could find. I've always had foot pain at the arch/bottom even after trying numerous off the shelf footbeds. Since October I have been having another issue. The right boot is causing a stress reaction/bone bruise on the outside of my right leg. The top of the skate is constantly slamming against my leg causing the issue. Up to this point I have been able to mitigate the pain by taping a small child size shin guard to my leg but this is becoming less effective. The guy at my LHS said he has heard of this issue and it is most likely happening because the S12 is so stiff at the top. At this point I think I need to look at different skates but my LHS is out of my size in the brands they carry. I plan to order a few pairs online and try them out but I need to know what brands will fit a wide flat foot like the Eastons. I'm a beginner player and skate 2 maybe 3 times a week so I don't need top of the line skates.

Some simple ideas you can try before dropping cash on new skates.

Have you tried skipping to top eyelet?

How about rebaking them and forming the very top of the boot outward a little...

I've tried tying the top eyelet loose but never skipping it. I thought about rebaking them but I also have a pair of custom orthotics coming so I wanted to wait for those to arrive before I go down that path. I'll give the eyelet option a try this weekend. Thanks.

I have a wide, flat foot too and I'm in Reeboks right now. They fit me great.

they have a much wider heel than the s12's though.

It may help, it may not. You're skating enough where the spot in question is always tender, so you might still experience some discomfort.

i went from an easton 9.5R to a ccm 9.0E. fit is nearly exact between the two skates

Without the models that offers him little assistance.

synergy 1500c's, ccm u+pro
