Back padding on Reebok 8k shoulders

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have the Reebok 8k KFS shoulders? I love the fit, weight, and almost everything about them. However, I can't stand the back padding where the shoulder caps are placed. It sticks out like a stegosaurus when you throw your jersey on and makes my jersey ride up a little bit. Is this something that will break in over time? I've been bending the padding whenever I'm not playing just to help it out but it doesn't seem to do much. Did anyone else have a similar problem with them? I'm at the point of looking to sell them and buy another pad but I really like everything else about them that it makes me want to try and make this work first. Any help is much appreciated.

I wear the 5ks and don't have that problem. They're my favourite shoulder pads of all time. Super comfortable.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. I can see the problem happening with the entire KFS line from the 4k to the 10k. I'm think of ordering the older RBK 5k from Peranis. Do you know anything about them?

Those are nice pads I recently acquired a set of old Jofa equivalents a LHS they had in the back. Light and very comfortable coming from easton synergy series. I particularly like the the venting system, keeps me much cooler than other pads. I am 5'7 and the S/M fits me pretty good and could easily fit someone bigger me.

Nice. I was worried about picking up the small. My body size sucks. I'm in between Small and Medium for almost all my gear except elbows. 5'7" about 180 pounds more or less.

I just picked up some 6k KFS's... are we talking about the actual shoulder caps, or one of the segmented back plates? I did notice the shoulder caps jutted out in the back quite a bit as well, but I've just hand curved the back portion of the shoulder cap so its much more rounded and contoured to the body now. So far the shoulder cap hasn't really un-curved itself much at all, if any. I'll try to snap some pictures.

I used to wear the 5k pads. Ok pad, didnt like the way the shoulder caps sat on my shoulders, sorta funny looking and they sat more on top then around the shoulder. They are a bit short in the front, stop about 4 inches above belly button. I like the reebok 8ks much more, I recently bought those to replace the 5ks.

I'll try and get some pics up of what I'm talking about as well. The caps do extend a bit but that doesn't bother me. It's the back plates that stick out like dinosaur scales. Hahaha. I've curved and bent them since I got them in January and they keep forming right back to where they were.

Ok bending the shoulder caps actually helped bring the back plates down A LOT. I don't know why i didn't think of this before. hahah. Thanks. I did order the 5k's to try out so these may still end up in sell forum or maybe I can get crazy and make a gnarly frankenpad.

I wear the 6Ks also and I haven't had any problems with my jersey (CCM practice jersey) riding up. The jersey is a little tough to get on, but that's all. I'm 5'11", 155lb and I wear a medium. Fits me perfectly.

I bought the 10K's. I absolutely love them. Light and very protective with great manoeverability and I don't feel like a hunchback in them. The shoulder caps aren't near as bulky as the old Jofa 8000/9000 series shoulder pads. I highly recommend them.
