looking for new elbows!

Recommended Posts

so yeah topic pretty much says everything, i am looking for new elbows, i've been using 10k's for a year now, the movement is great but i think they are way too big for no reason and they are size: small... i dont fit in some jersey... so yeah im looking for good elbows that arent oversize, good movement, great protection ( but not too much as the 10k)!

price doesn't realy matter

There is a buy/sell section where this belongs once you hit the appropriate post limit. Just a heads up.

Are you sure he's not asking for opinions on alternatives to the Reebok 10K..?

I've never tried the 10K's, but its pretty much standard for everyone on MSH to want Jofa 9144's/Rbk 7k Pro's or Easton Synergy 700 Pro's.. I dont think either of those will be less bulky than the 10K so maybe try something more low-mid range for less bulk.

yeah im def. looking for an alternatives elbow, not looking to buy from here, i just feel like they are very bulky and the part of where the joint of the elbow is very big and long

the jofa you showed me looks a bit smaller, anyone ever tried warriors?

I just bought new elbow pads. I went with the CCM U+Pro . Used them a couple times, excellent fit and they do not move at all. The main reason I went with these was they are not very bulky and still offer good protection. The only concern when I first got them was the neoprene cuff seemed a little harsh with the hair on my forearm(I dont like using long sleeves). It was a non issue once I used them. http://www.icewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=EPUPRO

Also bought the U+pros for way less bulk than my synergies. The neoprene cuff is a little harsh on bare skin but the pads never move. I wear compression fit long sleeves so the neoprene is a non issue. They definitely felt the smallest and gave the best range of motion IMO compared to all the other brands.

My apologies then. From the wording I took it as a buy post. I would second the eq's when they reach stores.

Warrior projekts and hustlers are really light, mobile, and comfortable. BUT, they are pretty bulky. Even with the bulkiness I don't notice them at all on the ice. I own the hustlers and have worn the projekts a few times.

I had the Warrior Hitman but they slid a lot because of the neoprene inside. They're a little bit on the bulkier side, similar size to the hustlers.

Switched over to a Reebok Platinum Series (Basically the 10k with a different liner) and they work amazing. Surprised you find them too much.

The only thing I could recommend is a pair of old Jofa JDP 2000 or something similar. I used to have a pair and LOVED them! Seriously lightweight yet protective. Only down side is they will most likely be very hard to find.

This is what I wear, and have since I started playing, Pro Tec skateboard elbows.

http://www.skatewarehouse.com/Protec_Park_Elbow_Pads/descpage-PCPKEP.html

Pro Tec has been making skate pads since the 80's. I used to be heavily involved with the skate scene, and these pads are designed to withstand the impact of a 20 foot fall in a concrete bowl, so they're going to be (more than) ok on the ice. Super mobile, very light, extremely comfortable, and perfect functionality.

Those look like they'd be perfect for reffing. Kinda sick of wearing the referee elbows that are huge. Small enough to be concealed under the jersey?

I dont think you are allowed to wear those because of the hard plastic caps, at least not in contact hockey, but adult league those would be ok.

Guys in (both of) my leagues still wear Douglas shoulder pads, covered in plastic caps. These are completely legal in both leagues I play in.

Krev, definitely. Actually, these are considered the 'big' elbows. Pro Tec makes a smaller one that is more recreational, that I'll wear for pickup sessions. Both the park elbows and rec elbows are ultra low profile and slim line design.

Recently bought new elbows.

I liked the CCM U+ 09, but the cut didn't work for me. Too much space between the elbow and shoulder pads.

The Warrior Projekts were very nice. Only drawback for me was price.

Unfortunately, not intended to protect you from a stick across the forearm. Something to consider.

While very true, over the past 3 years I can probably count on one hand the amount of 'vicious' slashes across the forearms I've taken. Just something I know the inherent risks on, and it hasn't really happened to me all that often.
