Easton: Another New Logo?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else seen Easton's Facebook photo album from the Let's Play Hockey show? They showed off a new yellow logo.

Didn't they just update their logo a few years ago? It seems like a weird time to launch it, given that the 2011 product is about to hit stores, and none of it has the new logo.

Anyone know if they're going to start using it on gear?

Hmm, kinda looks more modern and trendy. But Hell, I miss the days of the old boxed-in "E" and the yellow oval-shaped "E".

Yes, the Diamond E is gone. The wordmark is still the same.

For all intents/purposes, the new stuff may be updated; perhaps anyone @ LPH MN can verify?

Old logo probably wasn't testing good with poor logo recognition. They probably hope the new logo will fix that but by the looks of it, i doubt it, its too plain and nothing like the old logo. We shall see what happens

Seems that with this and their new advertising, they're looking to go the way of Warrior with the odd stuff. Off-the-wall/funny marketing campaigns and such.

Maybe, I know Warrior is targeting teens and younger as evident with their campaigns and facebook activity so Easton might follow suit. I don't have any market data but I would imagine they want to further segment the market to gain larger overall market share.

JR- do you know if they decided to change it after the catalog came out? The timing really is odd. I'm assuming at least the first batch of EQ50 skates will have outdated branding.

One can deduce from the catalogue that the new logo is not in there; therefore it was decided to be changed after the catalogue was printed.

With their experienced hockey management team, this is really a bit of a surprise. Introduce a 2011 line for dealers, let them book it, show off a new logo in MN, and now the new product looks out dated since it has "old" logo branding. I could understand this happening if the management team was a bunch of rookies but they have some guys with a strong track record at the top. I guess the logo goes to new Easton baseball product first that will be shown to baseball dealers in the next few months for Spring 2012. I hope I'm right about that otherwise............

If anything, they could be doing a very crude version of market research to see consumer reactions at the show. Otherwise I think the scenario you said above is most likely. None of Easton's sits have that new logo for what its worth

Like the ONE95 sticks? :)

It could be that they are still using the E as a secondary logo and that the new logo is part of the wordmark.

Who knows.

I'll ask some questions tomorrow.

the logo on its own is pretty 'meh'.

id have to see the full roll out (stick graphics, gloves, etc.) to make a judgement on the rebrand.

if the rest of the easton branded pieces (ads & gear) dont work in this 'system' itd be pretty pointless.

we will just have to wait and see.

well it IS the beginning of the baseball season... perhaps the change was for that??

i just took a look at the baseball stuff, doesnt look like the branding is any different.

they may not have the brand new stuff up yet, though.
