PS MHP: 520 vs 1053 vs 7000

Just looking for some clarification, I'm wanting to purchase a pair of the ccm 520's...I currently wear an XL in ccm u+08. Before that is was the v04 in a XL...from what this thread has sort of stated am I to believe the 520'sfit a little snug when compared to ccm regular sizing? I have the option of a XL and a XXL in my colorway and just need some clarification from someone with the 520. Thanks!

I wear a 36"-38" waist jeans btw

if one knew how to do a search on ebay, check the gear exchange thread, or look on hockeymonkey.com or other similar sites selling pro stock gear (google it) yes...yes one could find a pair in size small

any clarification on the sizing of the 520 being a little smaller than ccm's regular sizing would be greatly appreciated. From my understanding a XXL 520 should fit like an XL u+ series...correct?

Strangely, the sizing is different in the different CCM and Reebok pants. The MHP520CHL.SP XL is 38-40, the MHP520ECHL.SP XL is 36-38, and fits smaller, and the Reebok 1053 XL is 36-38, and fits larger than the others.

So folks should check what they're getting, compared to what they have, to avoid size surprise.

For comparison, the retail pants I've tried on generally fit me in XL. As I recall, they included the CCM model just below the top of the line, the "Pro", as I recall. It was the line before the current one. Same with the 11K. Keep in mind that the waist and the gut affect fit.

As I mentioned, it varies with the 520 model. The pants I got from the Monkey were the MHP520ECHL.SP XL, with vents and zippers.

Thanks, I went with the XXL to be safe, should work out well, if not eBay will be seeing them soon ha.

I was wondering on size as well with these. Just ordered the XL CCM 520s from hockeymonkey. On the site they list CCM pro stock pant sizing as 38"-42".

I'm a 36-38. 6'2", 215.

I wear XLs in my current Mission pants. They had a few options for CCM XL 520s (Regular XL, XL Vented and XL +1). I called them and the guy said that the +1 is a zip option so that they are regular length, but there's a zipper you can unzip to add an inch of length. Can anyone verify this? I thought the +1 or +2 lengths on pants were just automatically longer, not something you can change.

I tried some on some Pro Stock Bauer/Reebok 7000s yesterday at a local shop and they fit ok, but decided to order the 520s instead.

So if you're XXL end up a bit big and my XL too small they may both end up on ebay. ha.

Well I ordered them through monkey so if those were the model that fit a little snug then maybe that means theres a good chance they will work out...we shall see. Thanks for the replies!

You are correct- the +1" or 2" is added length to the inseam from the factory. The zippers on the inside of the legs will only change the opening of the leg holes.

I went ahead and changed my order this morning.

They do have the sizing marked wrong on the Monkey site. They also had told me that the CCM pro stocks had the NHL logo on the back when I spoke to someone over the weekend, but when I checked back today the rep was nice enough to go into the warehouse to check the sizing on the tag and for the NHL emblem. She confirmed that XL is not 38"-42" as listed on the website, but XL is 36-38 and XXL is 38-40. She also confirmed no NHL logo on the CCMs (520s or 7000s) so I'm guessing those aren't NHL pro stock pants?

I decided to switch to the Reebok version, size XL. Only option in black was Boston, but with a little strategic surgical alteration I can change that. No offense to any Bruins fans out there, but I have an old school North Stars patch that'll fit perfectly over the top of that so I'll have my own Pro Stock version and be able to show some hometown support.

Thanks for everyone who's chimed in on this thread over the time it's been up.

Thanks for posting that, good to know the XXL will most likely work out great for my 38" waist ha, bummer theres no NHL logo, it means they are still ProStock but probably from the ECHL or AHL or the like.

Probably confused it with Reebok retail pants that had a zipper around the waist that could be unzipped, adding 1" to the pants length.

520 pants just arrived, have to say that was really fast.

Size XL Pro Stock Bruins. They fit a little more snug than my XL Mission pants, but they aren't too small by any means and my Missions have about 6 years of breaking in so they are pretty loose.

I can definitely feel the superior protection, but they still feel light comparatively. My missions are a touch longer (maybe 1/2 inch) so I wouldn't have minded a slightly longer leg, but they also may stretch out a touch when they break in.

For the record, I'm 6'2", 215-220 (fluctuates depending on my current ratio of beers-to-time-on-ice), 36-38 waist, big Polish/Russian rear-end.

Interested to hear how your XXLs feel when they arrive.

Did they have the NHL patch?

They do. It's the Reebok Bruins version. My understanding is any of the Pro Stock team versions will have the NHL patch on the back.

Most NHL teams also have the team patch/logo on the front leg like these do, but some teams do not - Chicago, Dallas and Philly for instance.

Other non-NHL team Pro Stock versions do not have the NHL logo, so I think the CCM 520s that the Monkey has in stock must be Pro Stock from a different league.

I felt my 520s were too snug to be the right size initially, but wore them twice and they are perfect. In my opinion too big makes them feel cumbersome.

A little tangential, but I've had a similar experience as has Buzz with my 7000s; initially felt a bit too snug, but they loosened up/are just right after a few skates.

got em today. they fit perfect. the tag says 'xxl 36-40' so they are gunna work out great. after trying them on theyll definitely need some breaking in, but the protection they provide is unbeleivable. tag says the are from the CHL which is cool and all the CCm logos are embroidered and look awesome. No zippers so Ill prbly have to dress a little differently although I doubt my skates would rip through these bad boys. Stoked!

also the fit is so right that i may be able to ditch my suspenders...i will find out tomorrow

No leg zippers?

That's strange and strange on the sizing too. They must have various models of the CCMs. When I spoke with the cust. serv. agent she double checked the size on the CCMs and did say 36-38 for XL and 38-40 for XXL.

The leg zippers and vents were another option, i kinda like not having them. Sizing is great though, prbly need another 3 or 4 skates before theyre broken in, they are stiff to start thats for sure.
