Nike Quest Hockey Sticks

Recommended Posts

I came across a number of new Nike Quest 1 and 2 shafts the other day at my LHS and was wondering if anyone could give me any info on them.

Particularly flex and depreciated cost. I looked on the forums and googled it but nothing came up.

The shaft I ended up buying was a Nike Quest 1, Medium Length, 300 flex. Having just used it, it feels really whippy.

Anyone know the real flex numbers?

I know they go highest #s to lowest 300--->200, but can't figure out the flex. It felt like a 65 or 70.

The second question is cost because I don't know how much I should be spending on them. Thanks!

It sounds like they're using an Inno type scale. Refer to the Flex Chart on this site on the top menu bar. 300 = 80 on the Easton scale.

What colour are these sticks? I have an older Nike Apollo shaft and had an OPS (now converted into a tapered shaft) and they are white and orange. They have regular flex numbers on them though - mine both say 102 pro flex. I also used to have a Nike Ignite 1 standard shaft (until it broke..it's actually the only standard shaft I've ever broke) and I believe it also had standard numbers. I've never seen a Nike stick with inno style flex numbers.

OK, I just did a google search and believe I found the stick you're talking about. Someone had one for sale (who I believe is also a member here) on a golf site back in 2006 for $65: http://www.torontogolfnuts.com/showthread.php?t=5645

I've never used or seen that stick until now so I can't comment on it other than to say if it was made by Inno it's possible it's similar to the Warrior Dolomite or original Bauer XX. You may want to ask golfpuck.

Since that model is quite old I wouldn't pay more than $60 for the stick (if it's a curve I really liked that I couldn't find elsewhere I might pay a little more) and $40 for a shaft. If it's much higher than that you might as well look for an Inno Mania on sale (repainted Warriors that were slightly off spec - a little heavier or the flex is a little stiffer or whippier).

I had one of those shafts a few years back. I bought it used at a PIAS, used it for a game or two and then sold it back to them. It just felt too whippy. Test the shaft in person before buying. I didn't have any issues with the quality, just the flex. IIRC, this generation of Nikes was LH/RH-specific. Check for that too before you plunk down your cash.
