Warrior Diablo

Recommended Posts

Anyone use the new warrior diablo yet? I'm going to get either that or the widow, but i'm worried that the widow may be too fragile. The diablos taper isnt as intense and its a little heavier i was just seeing if anyone has tried it yet. Any information would be appreciated thanks!

This is the stick I am waiting for. I just can't justify the price of the Widow for my level of play. Hell, I doubt I can justify the Diablo for my level of play but I love the Dolo and it was not considered Warrior's ultra-premium stick but still yielded great results. Anxiously await the reviews. I'm dying to try that dagger taper.

Being an Employee of Total Hockey, I get to try the latest and newest equipment out and I LOVE THE DIABLO. I have used the X60 for a while and I tried the Diablo to see how it felt. I may be using warrior sticks from now on.

OK, that's great you get to use all the newest gear. Now can you tell us what you liked about the Diablo?

As in, you know, something about the stick itself?

Isn't there only a $30 between the Diablo and Widow?

Just wondering, if you're spending $200 on a stick already, why you wouldn't splurge for the higher-end model?

Seems strange to me.

Well, like gymmonster mentioned, he wanted a 75 flex. Widows are only available in 85 and 100. Although, there is a 70 flex intermediate Widow, but I don't know if they are different shaft dimensions.

I think the 4 inches in taper shape, and the true 1 vs. fused are fairly big differences. I would imagine they are both great sticks but probably feel different.

exactly, the feel of a fused stick and a true 1 piece will be different. some will like the feel of the widow, while others may prefer the feel of the diablo.

It's not the same thing exactly, but buying a kronik instead of a dolo because it's more expensive doesn't make sense to some people. Just because it costs more, doesn't actually mean it's the better stick. I'd take a dolo over a kronik anyday.

Very true. The Fused construction nature of the Diablo lends to a different feel since the fuse point creates an area of extra stability.

This is a valid point and I wouldn't have a problem paying the extra $30 for the Widow, however as Steelnation248 mentioned, I wanted to go with a 75 flex. TheI wouldn't have had a problem puruchasing an intermediate Widow however I currently use the Gionta pattern (2011 Dolomite) which is not offered for intermediate stick users.

Yes, I understand there are differences in the sticks themselves.

I just meant that it's strange that there's such a small difference in price. With the Dolo and Kronik there was still a $50-$60 difference (in Canada).

I just found it to be odd to have two sticks, one supposedly the "lower-end" model for only $30 less. Usually there's a $50 difference between lines.

That's all. Take what you will from it.

I understand where you are coming from, but I think they are not really considered high and lower end. I think they are both high, as in same carbon construction similar technology. One being for people who like that true one piece feel and one for those that want the fused feel and durability. Kind of like the 11k and 9k. I have heard a lot of people prefer the 9k because it is fused where as the 11k is more of a true one piece so the feel is quite a bit diffferent. 209 11k and 169 for the 9k. But this also proves your point of the 50.00 difference. I guess it just boils down to what price warrior wanted for their sticks. If they had them for 199.00 and 169.00 I bet it would not stand out to most. But when the step down in price from the top line stick is still 199.00 it seems pricey.

main reason im looking toward a diablo over a widow is shaft shape, as far as i know it supposed to be more similar to the dolomite, which i currently love

Don't seem to be available in Canada yet. Wonder when stores will be getting them.

I found 2 in Calgary which was a surprise as no one has the Widow or will order any new Warrior gear. The only place in Canada with both the Diablo and Widow is The Hockey Shop. You're gonna have to pay for shipping though.

I thought the Diablo was extremely light. Felt more balanced than the '11 Dolo. The dagger taper wasn't too extreme. Blade material looks way better than the previous DD which was the only downfall for my Dolo. I might have to give both the Diablo and Widow a try.

Can someone explain why not get the widow if its price based? What is the difference in a 180$-190 and the 220$? Its 30$...

Thank you. Hence my purchase of a Totalone for A level and some AB

It was explained above. One thing was the Diablo has lower flex senior sticks in curves that aren't offered in the Widow intermediate sticks. Another was some people prefer the feel of a two piece fused stick as opposed to a true one piece. It's all personal preference. So, if you want a 75 flex Gionta curve and you like two piece fused sticks, you get a Diablo. If you like an 85 flex Draper curve and the feel of a true one piece, you get a Widow.

Too each their own. Coincidently, with one option, you just happen to save $30.

That pretty much sums up the whole conversation! That should be in a catalog or online!

Just finished a league game with my diablo. For reference sake I'm not a good hockey player, playing tier 3 of 12 in non contact rec league.

Passes were crisp and accurate, receiving passes was imo much better with the diablo vs the 2011 dolo dd which I also own.

I did not have any issues with transitioning from a dolo to the diablo. My shot seems to be heavier with the diablo, not necessarily faster. The taper definately does the stick justice, snappers were effortless (my only shot I really use)

I like this stick more than my '11 dolo and my totalone but after one game it is already splitting at the toe, and I tape all the way as well.

I liked the first half of that sentence. Just bought a Diablo yesterday. Glad I didn't cut it yet. It's definitely going back to the store.

One guy has a problem and you're taking yours back? I've got three of these and have used them since the beginning of the year and haven't had any issues with durability. As far as how these sticks are, they're the first Warrior sticks that I've really liked. Good snap, good feel. I handles similarly to the Widow, but comes in a wider array of flexes.

Don't base your purchases on one guy's single experience. Jeeze. If you do that, you're not going to be able to buy anything.

sometimes this happens, i had a dolo once that had the same problem where it split at the toe and my replacement, and the countless i bought after that never had that problem. sh*t happens man. like the guy above me said, don't return it because of that.
