Warrior Swizzle Shaft

Recommended Posts

I have the possibility to get the Warrior Swizzle Shaft really cheap (-50%) but i'm not sure about it. It's quite heavy (320) gramms and i think it's one of there low end shafts.

Do anybody use/used it? should i keep my hand off it or is it good? Does it come with the wooden plug at the end like the AK27?

Right now i have a AK27 2010 Shaft. Can anybody tell me if the performance is comparable? I would pair it with a AK27 blade, is it a good combination?

Thanks in advance!

I've never used either but I did want to point this out - the AK shafts are listed at ~320 on icewarehouse, who measure the weight of items themselves.

That being said, if it's listed at 320, it's probably more than that amount too. Just something to keep in mind though.

Coming from an AK27 shaft, you would definitely be able to tell that it is a lower-end shaft. It will be heavier and have a more lifeless feel.

Sometimes, regardless of how good a deal something it is, it simply isn't worth it compared to what you already have.

Long story short, I would tell you not to buy the Swizzle shaft.

But, if you want the long story anyway... I was looking for a heavy and durable shaft that I could use outside with ABS blades in them and decided to plunk down on one of the Swizzle shafts a few months ago. I made sure to get a 80 flex as I prefer a lighter flex, but after I inserted a blade, my heart sank. The shaft was damn near impossible to flex. I got in touch with Warrior and they speculated that it may have been a 95 flex shaft marked as an 80 flex by mistake. They sent me another one and sadly, it felt exactly the same.

On top of that, I generally prefer a clear/very light grip stick finish and the texture combined with grip coating on the Swizzle made stickhandling extremely difficult. Obviously, that's more of a personal preference thing, but I couldn't stand it myself. I ended up handing both shafts over to a friend and he loves them, but then he likes lots of grip and can use stiffer shafts than I can. If you're that type of person as well, I'd say go ahead and snap it up, otherwise avoid it like the plague.

EDIT: My bad. I meant 80 and 95 flex. And yeah, I can also vouch for the boxiness of the shaft which was also a bit of a turn off.

Swizzle's dont come in 85,

I've had 3 Swizzles in rotation for almost 2 years now, never had a complaint, fantastic shaft for the price. Somewhat boxy compared to other models, i will admit

Figured I'd add to this string. I have a Swizzle shaft and it feels very stiff. I'm a big guy but still have to put a lot of weight on it to get it to flex much. Is there a way to see what flex it is? I can't find a marking anywhere on the shaft.
