Mineola, NY - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano will be joined by hundreds of local business, community and labor leaders on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in announcing a major Economic Development and Job Creation Plan to build a world-class sports-entertainment destination center. After months of intense media speculation, the County Executive will also announce plans to pursue the construction of an Indian gaming casino.

I hope this is not an announcement about future possible announcements though.... I want shit to get done!

Nassau County sells bonds to pay for $400 million Arena at Coliseum.

Wang will sign lease with County till 2045 (fuck yea!)

County gets percentage of Islanders income (I assume until the 400M is paid off)

County gets percentage of non-Islanders Coliseum income (see above)

Shinnecocks build casino in Belmont

Minor League Ballpark near Coliseum.

No new costs to the taxpayers

There will be a vote on August 1st, but with the taxpayers seeing no increase I don't think theres anyway this WONT pass.

If this is passed and the Isles end up getting this new arena, minor league ball park, & whatever else they put in...good luck to the people of Long Island driving on the Meadowbrook Parkway. Traffic in that area is horrible as it and this is just going to make it a 1000 times worse.

It doesn't matter where on the 77 acres you put it, you're still going to have insane traffic. Imagine trying to get to a game in December, battling Christmas shoppers headed for the mall and then trying to get the new Coliseum. And they say the revenue from the new coliseum will pay for the bond that finances the new arena. Great, but who is going to foot the bill for the infrastructure costs of this new complex?

I don't regret leaving the Island one bit.

Begin? Not sure, but they want it done by 2015.
