Easton S17 Elite Runners

Recommended Posts

So far I've enjoyed my S17's that I've had for the past 2 months. However, not having a ton of experience with different runners and their performance, I figured I'd try to seek some feedback from other S17 users. Mine came with the Elite runners and I didn't know if there were any drawbacks to these.

Have people tried other options? My skating skills are still developing, so for a guy my size (220 lbs) I want to make sure I've got steel under me that will contribute to better skating and not be a drawback (heck, I'm so new I wouldn't know what to even consider as a drawback).

-Thanks, Todd

If you're a beginner, the steel will have no effect...unless they were completely profiled/sharpened incorrectly when you got them.

I've been in Eastons for at least the last five years and have never broken a blade or found any problems with having to sharpen them more frequently than any other brands. The only problem I had was the rivets popping at the bottom of the composite boot with my SE 16's. Since it cracked the holder I replaced them with Tuuk Lightspeeds. Haven't noticed a big difference between the two holders or blades. I really have no preference.

I've been skating in Eastons for a few years now and have never had a problem with the steel. I do prefer the LPS2 over the Elite though (I'm about 220 lbs myself); I like the little bit of spring i find in the parabolic steel. In my experience I have found that it holds an edge just as long as the TUUK steel. Just my 2 cents though....

I agree with figgi and duch. I've had no problems with Eastons steel at all (both LPS2 and Elite). I haven't skated on Tuuks/LS2, but I can't tell a difference between the E-Pro steel and the Elite steel.
