NIke 0004 Question

I have a older nike 0004 helmet that I want to keep using, as we all know they are rather hide to find, but the front screws where the cage attach need some repair. On one side the screw broke off inside inlet, and on the other side the metal inlet is spinning inside of the helmet. Does anyone have any advice on how to repair these front screws/inlets?

I want to keep being able to use my full cage (jofa bubble) and not switch to a pro visor so i need these screws to be functional.

I can't directly answer your question, but THIS suggests that we replace these helmets even if nothing is wrong with them b/c they are so old. Hope this helps!

As for the broken screws, perhaps you could take them to an LHS where they would have the hardware to help you.

just buy 4500 this would be the best solution. no repair is possible

A dremel cut off wheel will probably solve the screw issue. Wear eye protection.

I was able to cut the screws out and replace them with ones from another bucket I had lying around. Luckily I had access to a bunch of tools. Also, to note I was confused about the model number; this helmet isn't that old its from 06 I believe. Plus it was my college bucket so it has some sentimental value.

Technically, aren't helmets supposed to be replaced roughly every three years?

So I figured I'd just bump this instead of starting a new topic.

I was thinking about upgrading my 0004. I know everyone's head is different and that no helmet will fit everyone the same but I was wondering what models people switched to who use the use this helmet? I read that people had some success with Easton S9. Are there any other suggestions you guys have?

I'm going to try on a helmet before I buy it and all that, I'm just looking for what other members had success with.

Edit: I have tried the Bauer 4500 and my ears didn't fit. They were pressed up against the top of the cutout. My 0004 fits great, I was kind of surprised that the same size 4500 didn't fit as well
