Best NHL Division 2010-2011 Season?

Recommended Posts

According to my math, this is how the goal break down.

East:

Atlantic - 1133

Northeast - 1117

Southeast - 1125

West:

Central - 1193

Northwest - 1138

Pacific -1164

That being said: as a Wings fan, over the past couple years, the Central division has been pretty strong. The Wings are on their 20 season playoff streak, Chicago won the cup last year, and Nashville has been up and coming for awhile now going off strong defense/goaltending. The Pacific division always seems tight too. Over the past couple years, all 5 of the teams seem to have some success. Especially last year. 4 of the teams made it into the playoffs and the Stars missed it by 1 point. I think the Atlantic division would be tough to play in if you're in the East. Both Pennsylvania teams, along with the Rangers and Devils. Those 4 teams are usually pretty solid.

It's hard to tell which one is better. According to those stats the Northeast division appears to be the weakest one but 3 out of 5 teams made the playoffs and one of them won the Cup... I think they're all pretty much the same, they all have 2-3 top tier teams and one or two bottom feeders (except the Pacific division but I don't think they'll be this good next year, especially Dallas). I'll give a slight edge to the Central division tho. Since Columbus got better in the off-season, St-Louis is now the only low tier team

I always think the west has good goal scorers. I am hoping I am not the only one out there thinking the all star game was a waste of air time. I just miss it being EAST VS WEST not like picking players like in grade school for gym class.

Its generally a joke anyway so why not let them have some fun with it and see some random lineups.

4 of 5 teams from the Pacific made the playoffs. Meaning the pacific is half of the Western Conference Playoffs. Although Phoenix didn't have a shot against Detroit and were outed in the first round, the Ducks couldn't pull it together in the end against Nashville in the first round (Thank God), and the Kings looked pretty good against San Jose at different parts in the series but were also out in round one. San Jose made it to the conference finals and lost (yes!).

Oh and Dallas was in the playoff race until the last day of the regular season. The entire Pacific Division almost made the playoffs.
