How does the fit of the APX differ from the x60? I found the x60's to be way too deep for me. My old bauer XXX's are still the best fitting skate I've ever had.

The APX to me has more ankle volume. More depth. Sorry, as this is not the answer you wanted to hear.

Kind of a crapshoot here... I've got a player who last year was wearing the TotalONe skate in a 4.75. This year she ordered the APX in 4 7/8. She is complaining that her heel is slipping, but she isn't getting any blisters. It is just a nuisance for her. I've already replaced the stock beds with some Shock DR ones hoping it would take up a little space, but it didn't work.

Anyone have some other ideas to make the skates feel shorter? Considering the skates aren't causing her any physical pain, I really don't want to get her a different pair because of something so minor.

There was a 7-page thread on this a few months ago, I hope it answers your question:

Even with those that say they fit like slippers these socks have been working wonders with some of the athletes I have been working with as of late.
