Anyone know what kind of cages the pros use?

Recommended Posts

I was watching a replay of the playoffs and noticed it and just became curious to what kind of cage a pro would use when they had to. A very random question i know haha!

If they played NCAA hockey I'll bet it's the same model now as then. If they didn't, well, NHL teams seem to have a knack for being able to get anything they want for trial. I don't think a player would have to try very hard to get a 480 or a Concept II.

They use either CCM/Jofa (same thing) or a bubble (Bauer Concept II)

A "bubble" is the old Jofa cage.

The term you're searching for is "fishbowl."

I don't think so! "Bubble," is synonymous with "fishbowl," I believe :P I forgot to mention the Itech cage, that is also a common cage used by NHLers. @everyone else, just look at Stephane Robidas if you ever find yourself curious of this question. He seems to have a cage on more often than his visy! :)

Um...no its not. How are they synonymous? The words themselves don't even mean the same thing.

In my opinion, a bubble and the stereotypical fishbowl are oddly similar. Maybe it's just a west coast thing...? In my experiences (which include Jr. A and in a couple weeks NCAA), the fishbowl is the same thing as the bubble. But what Manny Malhotra was wearing in the earlier post, that is considered both a fishbowl or a bubble in lingo.

Sorry for going off topic >.<

If you look at robidas' nose, you would see why. Looks like a mma fighter.

Glad JR pointed that out, I've noticed my younger cousin referring to ConceptII's and the like as bubbles and its really started to annoy me

If you say so.

I'm pretty positive my experiences outweigh yours. :)

I read that the trainer was swamped so John Madden helped him out and went to the LHS to get it. The Itec titanium.

Jovanovski wore an Easton cage in the playoffs last season. So that makes Easton, Bauer, CCM/RBK all in the NHL recently, and from those come the itech or Jofa products that now exist under a new brand so...all of them?
