Flipping a Standard Shaft

Recommended Posts

Sorry, couldn't find a definitive answer on this -

One of my standard shafts has a small chip on one of the lower corners - I don't think it compromises the strength of the shaft too much... but mentally I'd feel more comfortable putting the blade in the top where the butt end was and the butt end in the side with the chip.

Being a standard shaft... this should be fine, right? Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't be a problem, though it could impact performance slightly if it has an engineered kickpoint as Chippa mentioned. If the chip is small, I would epoxy or just cut slightly above it and put in a slightly longer plug to compensate for any lost length.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I probably am ahah) but flipping a low kick point shaft isn't really going to affect the performance, it's just going to feel stiffer. Anyway, that's what I noticed

all depends on how the stick is engineered but having the kick point between your hands would absolutely impact the performance.

I bought most of my sticks as OPS with broken blades so obviously I can't tell the difference. Good enough for me either way ahah

The weight distribution feels different.

I tried it on an X:60 which didn't even fit without some tenon modification, and the shots fell completely off. I redid it with a tapered blade on the correct end and felt like a natural OPS.

I definitely do not recommend it.
