Matching Helmet and Cage size

Recommended Posts

I have a Reebok 8K medium helmet that I'm wanting to switch out my half-shield for a cage. I was just wondering if generally speaking going with a medium cage would usually work for fit?

I know there's always some variance from person to person and face to face but do most people seem to work with that match up?

My 8K fits great at the smallest setting (felt slightly better than a small at max setting) and given where I fall on the sizing between the two I was wondering if a medium might end up too small. I've tried the 11K cage and like how I see through it and the 11K medium cage on it seemed to work fine, just wondering what other people's experiences with sizing are?

Thanks!

My experience is that every person is different and only one size will result in a proper fit for any one person.

Generally speaking, yes, it should. When you buy a helmet/cage combo a large helmet will come with a large cage.

I have an XL Easton S9 but I have the large cage and it fits almost perfectly. Granted, they don't make an XL one...but you get the idea.

The cage should be sized to the face and adjusted so that it`s snug against the chin, but generally it runs size-to-size.

That is not my experience at all. More often than not, we had to mix and match sizes to get a correct fit.

Really? It's interesting that we have different experiences then haha. But I think we both agree that the cage should be sized to the face.
