protective opinions and help

Recommended Posts

ok so first off let me say i know i'm way overthinking stuff, but i do this with everything...but i'm looking to get all new protective gear...shins, elbow, shoulder...ive tried on and like the reebok 11k's, bauer total one's, and warrior projekt's...they are all nice in their own ways, and i really cannot decide (ps i'm anal and wanna have all matching stuff)...take price out of it, because i know the projekts are on really good sale right now, but dont factor that in...anybody have any of these? even tho i like them, i like the reeboks the least i think of the 3, but i have jofa stuff now, and am unsure about completely changing it up...adn the fact that most the nhl still wears reebok/jofa pads makes me lean toward them...opinions for a guy who seems to have nothing better to think about lol

I have the Projekt elbows and shins and really like them - they're both very comfortable and mobile. I had to go from large to medium in the elbows as I do find they're sized larger. The stitching came loose on the middles straps of the elbows, but my aunt sewed them up for me and they've been fine ever since. If I had to change one thing about the shins it'd be making the side flap for the knee a little smaller as I find I have to avoid that if I'm taping the shins and I don't use my Nike Swift socks with these pads because they pull that side flap too tight, but with all other socks they're fine as long as I tape around that area and not over it (I can also use the tighter Tron socks without tape and have no issues with those).

I used to use Bauer One90 shins and eblows (which are similar to the TotalOnes) and I find the Projekts elbows and shins more comfortable. I did like the grip on the inside of the Bauer pads and the removable liner on the shins, but overall I prefer the Projekt pads.

All three series of pads are top end - just buy what you felt fit you the best and was the most comfortable/mobile.

ya i know what you mean...the only thing that pulls me toward what the pros use isnt the thought of "oh i wanna be like the pros"...its "if nearly 100% of pro's use this brand out of choice, it must be better or more protective"...if most pro's used it because of sponsorship i wouldnt care, but because even other-sponsored players choose this brand underneath, it makes me think...but i always hear from everybody that all top end stuff is pretty much the same...you'd think if it was all equal, more pro's would change it up

well if the protection was all equal, you'd think some players would prefer the fit/liner etc of different brands...any one of these will be more than good enough for what i need, but i always just wondered that

ha...damn you for throwing in another option lol...thanks tho i hadn't heard that...i'll keep an eye out

I'm interested in their shin guards. This is from Darkstar.

I saw the CCM protective line today. Until you see it, feel it, hold it and try it on, you have no idea what you're talking about by looking at a picture. Kudos to CCM for thinking and producing something new that is truly different and innovative.

When he says something nice about someone other than Bauer, that should really get your attention. Seriously though retrying on as much gear as you can and ignore the name tags. Go with what feels best to you, even if the names don't match.

Go with what feels the best, nothing worse then skating around during a game adjusting your equipment.
